  • Its hard work at the time but it always made me buzz slightly, and Christmas, as you say everyone's spirits are high so they are more entertaining (and the tips are sometimes higher ;)). I really quite miss not working in that environment sometimes as I am a people person and where I worked was a village pub/restaurant so we used to get lots of regulars. Although I did know a girl who worked at Frankie & Bennys and she would regularly come out with £40.00 tips alone from a weekend shift - whereas I would be happy with a fiver :o

Ah yes, I love the tips! I had a night off from work tonight, it was bliss! I am a people person too so I do enjoy it, it's just that my boss is very happy to cut corners. I feel that the poor customers suffer sometimes, but I just do the best I can!

Thanks to both of you for posting!

Yes, the flirting and/or dancing makes me laugh. A lot of men seem to confuse being friendly (which is part of my job) with me cracking onto them. Hilarious, especially if you could see the age of most of them. It is like being romanced by Santa :santa2:.

So my reaction on the outside is like this: :blushing:

But on the inside, it is more like this: :wall:

Sorry to remind you about car tax! That is part of my giant financial gap for January, although I managed to list four things on Ebay in the end today, so at least I have started getting on with trying to fill it. I didn't get round to tidying though, oops. I just hope my OH doesn't come down for a glass of water in the middle of the night, or he is likely to break his neck trying to get through the stuff!

Off to do some Swagbucks shizzle now, boring but necessary!!

Yes - mine is due at the end of Jan too. The restaurant goes dead in Jan so I am not likely to get many shifts, hence the ebaying. :) Got a few watchers on the items though, so that is the good news.

Had a busy night at work, but it is going well. Made a PAD tonight, so now I only have £34 to find on that CC1 minimum payment before the 22nd. Easy-peasy - should manage it by tomorrow night.

Righto - off to work on my xmas pressies, wrap a few more bought ones, and do Swagbucks stuff. Up to 195 points on there again already! :T

Hiya! Good to hear from you. Thanks for posting on my thread, makes me feel all warm and loved....lol....cue dodgy hug smilie! :grouphug:

Well, I now have 24 quid left to find for CC1's December payment, shouldn't be too bad. I'm not feeling great, can't sleep at the moment for more than about 5 or 6 hours before I wake right up (not like me at all).

Basically, I think it's the money that's probably subconsciously worrying me. The other day I realised I had completely stuffed my finances up for Christmas and January :o by forgetting about the CC payments that will be due by about January the 8th. Idiot  One of them I have covered (CC3), but CC2's payment is always massive (usually 150 quid) and I have no idea where I'm going to get that cash from. :( I am just mad with myself more than anything for spectacularly screwing up my calculations. I have frantically started applying for temp jobs in January, in the hopes that I can get some cashflow coming in, even if the payment's a bit late. And yet again, things that I could buy to help me get a 'proper' job (such as yearly membership fees for professional bodies etc) end up stuck on the back burner. I hate this hole I'm in at the moment, I cannot seem to dig my way out. I have been really careful with Christmas presents this year (never done so much shopping at the pound shop! And I've made a lot of things too) but it still doesn't seem to have helped.

I know this mess is all my fault etc etc...but progress seems to be so slow sometimes.

*sigh* Rant over, sorry to be venting at you there, but I do feel better for it!

aww chick - its a nightmare I know exactly how you feel - i get myself totally stressed out - My oh always tells me how getting myself so stressed won't help - i know this but sadly I dont' have a magic controller that allows me to turn off the stress - doh!!
Its very rubbish when things crop up and it just seems like you're fighting a losing battle. Me and OH went through about 6 months where every month hed say - it will be better next month - and then as if by magic somehting else horrid would pop up - like his car woudl need 300 spending on it or my insurence woudl be due - and ridicuouls
You're doing so well - I'm sure you#ll be able to sort the payment some how - just need to get our emergency thinking caps on!!

can you ask anyone to lend you the minimum payment? I asked my sister a couple of months ago - i paid her back as soon as I got paid - it just meant i didn't miss a payment on my cc. I haven't ever asked her before or since. I know if im desperate my parents woudl help me very short term.. is there anyone around who might help?
Coudl you ask anyone for money for christmas instead of a gift? Or maybe perfume ( named) as this always sells really well on ebay and might jsut help you meet your payment.
Could you put something on one of your other credit cards for someone else and them give you the cash so you can make your minimum payments - I know lots of DFW will tell me off for suggesting this but kinda thinking that missing a payment is not a good idea and it might jsut give you a bit of breathing room and a bit more time to sell things on ebay in jan...

sending you hugs - I know how horrible it is!! whats the job you really want btw? did you say its in health? heres a christmas smilie to cheer you up a bit... always good to have a good rant!! xx:rudolf:

  • Hiya,

Thanks for the encouragement nomore. Sorry that I ranted there, I rarely get stressed, even with all these debts, but it's been a tough end to the year financially.

As regards the tricky CC payment, I think I am going to make that, but miss one of my loan payments instead. That's not ideal by any stretch of the imagination, but at least they don't charge me £12. Also from past experience, they seem to leave it a few more days before they start hassling me on the phone, whereas the CC companies always seem to be straight on it! Also I owe a lot more with that CC than I do with my loans, so it seems to make sense to me to keep them sweet and onside.

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions though. I will admit that in the past, I have taken cash out on one CC to pay the bill for another () but I found that just exacerbated the problems - so now I have cut all my cards up. No more spending and always making AT LEAST my minimum payments will mean that the balances are slowly heading in the right direction. I may try asking a relative for a loan, but they are all broke too - except for my dad. So I could try him, although he's getting on a bit, so I'd feel quite guilty. :(

In positive news....nearly all presents bought, although still got one to buy and two to make. But I am off work now for xmas, so got plenty of time to do that.

Also - should have enough points on Sw*gbucks to redeem a $5 paypal card later tonight, I have started doing the 'tasks' on there, and although it is slow-going, at least if I'm online anyway then I am earning cash. More good news is that I sold two things on Ebay, although one of them is for my OH so I will have to give him the cash. Nonetheless, this has spurred him on regarding ebay, and I think we will be hunting in the attic again come new year :)
