Old Style Sunday 30 March

Just off for the sticky.....

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Buon giorno :j :T We've had a great holiday, but it's great to be back  As Italy is an hour ahead of the UK, we didn't bother putting our watches back last night, so have easily absorbed the clock forward malarky. We've not seen any news all week. The only English language channel was Euro Sport  so I'm well up on diving, cycling and curling (there - my first OS reference today - a sport that includes houswork :rotfl: ), but I'm so glad we weren't coming back to Heathrow   We had lovely weather; sunny, plenty of snow, and not too many queues. I've eaten more pizza than I should have, and we ate sweet piadines  (I'll put something about it on that thread later). We have no injuries, and I came back with a bronze medal for the slalom, so I'm mighty pleased about that

Congratulations to those celebrating, hugs for those in need, and I'm sure Haribo and Aussie will fill me in on what's really gone on this week  :shhh:

Have a Super Sunday, Penny. x

Hi everyone and hope all the poorly ones are feeling better today.

SMOKY - thinking of you and the children and sending lots of (((hugs))).

Well, I have just sped-read yesterday's thread - such a lot of pages nowadays! It's a shame that I seem to run out of time at the weekends.

Welcome to all the newbies - you'll love it here.

Well, it's my DH's birthday today! Or, it could be tomorrow or even Tuesday - he was born at home and neither his Mum nor Dad could really remember what day. His birth certificate says 31st but DH thinks it's the 30th and his Dad always said it was the 1st April (All Fool's Day, which makes sense!). Also, no-one knows how much he weighed because the midwife's scales broke! Anyway, he's having his pressies today!

Well, I suppose I'd better get off to the shower. Extra daylight this evening - I love it!

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Hope everyone has a great day - I'll try and keep up with you all today, if I can.

Morning. Don't know what happened yesterday. My post did'nt even get added to the other one, even though I started it a minute earlier.... Ah well it's not the end of the world.
After 2 dinner parties, I am looking forward to eating leftovers and doing very little tonight.
I have to lead the church service today, so I have some last minute notes to get ready, and an hour less to do it.
Still raining here, everything is soggy again. Hopeless is'nt it?
    Well have a nice day...

Morning PPen, Kyle, Moiliere & everyone else especially Haribo :D

Turned out quite warm here today. Took Benny for a walk with DH. Benny went for a swim. I haven't done any knitting so far today but will do some tonight. Might crochet actually as it's quicker. I just have to remember how to do it first.

Moiliere Regards to Mr Moiliere on his birthday. What did you get him?
PenPen Not much happened while you were away. :silenced: :D The sweet piadines sound lovely.
Kyle Have a great day. :D
    MrsMix

Will pop back later. <hugs to those poorly> Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Morning all who are already up bright & early :) and those to follow later....

smokey (((((((((hugs)))))))), and to all else who need them. Hope those who have been feeling snuffly/achy/under the weather are a bit less so too.
Martyn - I hope today is a bit of a better day for you as well.

Just made a cuppa & changed a selection of clocks. Got an aching back as I spent 6 hours (with one of my friends) putting together all the flatpack from Ikea, and now I can feel it..... Just a few more drawers to assemble this morning and then it's done though. DD's just want shelves put up )(need my mate back for that!) And curtains/wallpapers/rugs now...!! Maybe I might get my room done at some point in the next few months as well - I fancy a coffee & cream theme (or is that my stomach that fancies that...?)

Wondering if I can get some washing out on the line today, and might do a traybake cake or two - will get some ideas from that thread :)

Catch you all later, have a good day everyone.

I plan to use up what is left in the fridge today as we are away to morrow for a 5 day cheepy break, so yippee no Roast to cook.
A friend who is a wizz on comps is going to change my pc to wireless and load up my new laptop with my downloads and get it up and running, he is quite happy with a bottle of wine and a hm steak and kidney pie for payment.( made and in the freezer) A lot of us down here exchange time/skills and no money is involved. Our neighbour looks after the lakes in S/set and brings us a trout and as he is single he looks forward to a roast dinner and pud, fair exchange!! I think it's a great idea, saves money and all are happy.
Sending love and ((((((((((()))))))))))))))) to every one of you in need, special hugs to dear Smokey x

Martyn - I hope today is a bit of a better day for you as well.

    Morning all.

Sorry for yesterday, I still haven't worked out what came over me but it hit me like the proverbial runaway train and there was simply nothing I could do about it. Talk about riding out the storm

Today looks to be a better day, there are hints of blue in the sky and the clocks altering hasn't bothered me because I was still awake at 3 this morning  However, there's chicken soup doing it's thing in the sc so it's an OS tea for me and I shall do my best to get it together.

Love and thoughts to all who are hurting and if anyone feels they're in a deep hole, shout up and we'll help each other dig our respective ways out.

    Morning All

Guess who forgot to change her clock!!! Good job someone else set their alarm to the correct time, otherwise I'd have been late to work.

Well, I had a new battery put in the car (free as under guarantee) and the stupid thing's broken again. Looks like it might be the alternator, so more expense. So I'm still driving Mum's car at the mo.

Had a lovely (free) trip to the theatre yesterday. Very good show. And we had a take away in the evening. First time we've had one in months.

Got roast lamb today, courtesy of the reduced counter at Mr T. Half leg was going cheap - I thought it should've gone baa really:p :o

After work, I need to pop to Co-op and get tea bags, dog biscuits and milk - please don't let me forget!!!!

    Hope everyone's ok
