Yes! I used to do this too - and then a pharmacist told me that it was really bad for your nails . As I've got long, really strong nails I didn't want to damage them so I now use the clear nailvarnish thing.

Don't throw away those plastic nets that oranges and clementines etc come in. Keep them and bind a few together tightly and bundled up - they make excellent scourers.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

The plastic cartons that come with the mushrooms in are just the right size for storing CDS. Not very glamorous but they're hidden away:D I usually buy mushrooms in the paper bags and have found when I have got these cartons on the odd occasion they are unrecycable otherwise.

any sort of plastic container like these are great for flower arranging to hold oasis blocks then pop inside posh but leaky vases etc, alos good to tke a flower arrangement as a gift in without having to buy expensive container(your hostess won't think you are a cheapskate if you explian she can put inher own container to match decor!)
also use small pumpkins as containers for arrangement with a block of oasis in and berries and foliage from the garden you can get an almost free arrangement that looks great at this time of year :j0 -
I have just saved the cellophane from bouquet of flowers that I was sent unexpectedly on Saturday. I hope to use it to wrap around hm bathbombs and tie with a ribbon.

I have just made a bean sprouter from 2 plastic trays that I had kept from a supermarket purchase ages ago. Can't remember what was in them but they looked so useful I couldn't bear to throw them away. a couple of nights ago I was looking online at a sprouter that cost almost £5 plus post and packing of almost as much, when it occured to me that all I needed to do to replicate it was to poke holes into one tray and balance that over the other tray. So I heated up a fork and poked holes, "borrowed"2 lego bricks from DS2 to balance the tray with holes over the tray with no holes, covered it over with a pretty piece of fabric and voila - it is working a treat.
I used to use a glass jar for sprouting but wanted a tray as the sprouts seem to do better spread out in a thin layer and getting them out of a jar can be a bit of a challenge.People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading
