EagerLearner wrote: »Hi everyone, for me Clinique soap was too harsh for me personally (and expensive) as I have dry sensitive skin but I have found that an exfoliating cleanser made from ground almonds, almond oil, ground porridge and some ground lavender, plus a couple of drops of lemon oil, is lovely and delicate plus smells yummy. It lasts a couple of months and costs pennies to make. I have more info on my blog for beauty bits if anyone would like to read more (click my username) - like making your own Fabulous face oil for a few pence too x
Hi EagerLearner,
Could you please list the amounts of each item and the method to make this exfoliating cleanser. I have all the ingredients and I tried to guess the amounts but it didn't turn out quite right!!
P.S. I love your blog by the way. I have tried lots of your ideas/recipes, especially the facial oil. Its fabulous. Looking forward to more!!0 -

If use it to wrap jars of HM preserves and presents of cookies etc which make a hostess or small birthday gift look extra special, or to wrap christmas and birthday gifts to shooz them up a bit. I also use some rolls of ribbon I found extra extra cheap and use extravagant curls of that round the tied part.
I bought a large roll from a local friendly florist-£6 has lasted for 4 years,use to wrap all sorts of stuff,tombola prizes,raffle hampers,foodie prezzies,christmas puds(for sale!),tarts up cheap flowers/plants-looks good(clear with little yellow spots)

I am thinking of buying some bright coloured leg warmers along with other things.
Empty bread bags have a multitude of uses! Me muvva saves hers for us too as we use them for freezer bags, sarnie bags, on Pup's walks & at the coldest wettest times, use them over socks as another insulating layer inside boots. Also very handy if you have a bandage or dressing on your foot/ leg/ wrist/ arm & you want to have a bath or something.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

I'm not sure if Country Baskets has any other outlets but it might be worth checking out. It is a fantastic place to shop for all sorts of things. I often take a friend with me so that she can take advantage of the great prices. You could always try to persuade a friend in business to join and take you with them.0 -
country baskets in leeds also give cards to members of craft groups, you just need id and a printed letter head from craft group

One thing I am learning to do now in order not to waste any food if I can help it is to make out a sheet of paper every few days.
On one side I list what food I have got in that needs using up - such & such fruit/half a can of beans or what-you-will.
On the other side I write out meal ideas of what I could do with it - ie more ideas than I actually need - to allow for changes of mind, etc.
So - right now the sheet says:
RIGHT SIDE
hazelnuts
nettles
peppers
beetroot
goats cheese
LEFT SIDE
nettle frittata with goats cheese in it
vegetable soup
hazelnut cheesy mash potato
(roast peppers and freeze them)
Its a sort of planning - but not based on what the supermarket has cheapest. I do it based on what I have in from my various sources anyway.0 -
Hi all, I did buy leg warmers 3 pairs in 3 diffrent shops and would you credit it the ones I like the most are from £1 shop. Pale blue and black stripes.
Peacocks are selling arm warmers which I thought a bit strange.
DD(adult) came to visit last night and took home one of my Asda fleese'e so that was money saving to her. Ok, I have several so that was not a problem.
Right, off to do some housekeeping and keep warm as the convector heater is the only heat on at the moment. Will sort the coal fire out for later. Put some cakes in the oven.
Even got the dog trained:rotfl: he gives out a woof at the door to say he needs to go out. Saves the pennies by not having the door open all day like in the summer and the heat wasted. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Off down town later, I think I shall walk to get some exercise as well as saving £1.60 buss fare. Will get the buss back though with the shopping.
