started to sort out Christmas decorations today and found some moss balls I had made years ago, they are soooooo easy and look good.
scrunch newspaper to make a ball then wrap moss from the lawn around it and press firmly then you can decorate with fine gold wire or whatever takes your fancy.
they look good in a bowl with pine cones and other natural things or guess you could lightly spray them for a more bling effect0 -

In order to get a card to be able to shop there you have to run your own business or be connected to one. I did the City and Guilds floristry course and we were all provided with a card that I can still continue to use.
I'm not sure if Country Baskets has any other outlets but it might be worth checking out. It is a fantastic place to shop for all sorts of things. I often take a friend with me so that she can take advantage of the great prices. You could always try to persuade a friend in business to join and take you with them.
There's one in Manchester: I'm a member and it's blinking brilliant! I'm faily certain that there are others as well, but I'm not sure where. I wonder if they have a website? xPlease call me 'Pickle'

I've just punctured a pair of rubber gloves. Normally I'd turn the good one inside out and pair up with another good one (assuming they're both the same hand) but this time I had a little hole in one finger on each hand so I've cut off the good fingers to use as finger guards over a bandage or plaster and cut across the rest of the glove from side to side to make half a dozen good strong elastic bands.
Nothing wasted in this house :rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I know this is really naughty but I must admit to DH making up whisky and water in an empty water bottle before going to the pub:eek:
He buys the first drink and keeps topping it up when no-ones looking. It needs to be a busy night though to avoid the embarassment of beng spotted:D
A colleague of mine always used to turn up to the work Christmas do with a box of wine wrapped up in Christmas paper, with just the nozzle sticking out. She would plonk it on the table as if it was a present, and top up her glass all night:beer:
It all got out of hand one year though, when 7 different people all turned up with "gifts" - think they got caught that time!0 -
When I was young and skint (just old and skint now) my friend and I used to buy a quarter of a bottle of vodka and just buy lemonade all night! The prices that are charged now adays, if I was young now I'd probably still be doing the same!:D0

I've done that lots of times - used to decant vodka into an empty fruit shoot bottle. One night we didn't drink it all and so put the fruit shoot bottle in my friends fridge - her OH got up in the morning & had a huge swig out of the bottle not realising what was in it! Needless to say he wasn't too happy!:rotfl::happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -

Took me several readings of this to understand it as I kept inserting a "hot" between "water" and "bottle"-it really did conjure up a picture (and i was thinking that it must've tainted the drink.....) . Think Im a bit obsessed with keeping warm without breaking the bank...0 -
I recently bought some of the Persil super-concentrated laundry liquid when Sainsbury's had the big bottle (42 washes?) for £4. however I found that with constant use the bottle gets very sticky.
I now stand the bottle on a folded face flannel and when that gets too sticky I can just chuck it in the washing machine and use a little less liquid - every little helps!!0 -
when ever there has been a plate smashed or chipped in our house, i have just gone out and bought an odd plate which is normally a £1 ,
this time i bought the asda basic plate and bowl set for £4.
the plates are about 3rd smaller than the normal plates that you can buy...
they are great for reducing your food portion size;) i used this set for hte first time last weekend for our sunday roast dinner ( i have one set in our caravan) and no one seem to notice there was less food on the plate, even though the plate was full:DWork to live= not live to work0 -
One night, we decided to have a girly night out (a while ago now!!!). so we all got together at one house a few hours early to get ready, we all took a bottle of wine and we were drinking while we were getting ready. In the car (we got a lift) we all continued to drink (cheap!!). so by the time we got to town we were all very merry and we went round the clubs and drank water. we had a fantastic night and all alot cheaper than the prices they charge in town!GE 36 *MFD may 2043
