I was thinking of buying a new lampshade for the lounge. Ours is an uplight shade which I note hides most of the light and shines whats left on the ceiling. I looked in the shops and see the cost would be over £10 so decided to swap some of the shade around I have got instead.
Uplight shade is now in the dinning room and landing light is now in lounge. Dinning room light is now on the landing. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

This is a tip that's new to me today. You can use the parsley stalks to flavour soup. I have also read elsewhere that you can put crispy bacon rind into soup aswell to improve the flavour but perhaps not so good for the hips!

we still have 'The Works!'
Oh how lucky - I really wish we did. Ours closed earlier this year, I will have to check if the Durham store is still open as it would be worth a trip prior to Christmas.

This has probably been mentioned already but save those hard rinds from your Parmesan cheese in a polythene bag in the fridge and throw them into your home-made soup for extra flavouring. Especially delicious with Minestrone or Leek & Potato soup.0

When recyling cans and metal, aluminium is worth much more then the normal steel. Yellow pages will list depots that will pay for scrap metal should you be able to collect enough of it. The easy way to tell steel from aluminium is to use a fridge magnet, it wont stick to the expensive cans0 -
If your carpet cleaner takes bought bags for the dust, etc...
when the bag is full, cut the end open and empty the dust in the bin. Reseal the bag by turning the edge and fastening with paper clips. Put the same used bag back in the carpet cleaner to use for a second and third time.To keep buying thoose bags if you can find the correct ones for the cleaner can be costly - I now have a bagless carpet cleaner but have done this many times to save the pennies. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

I treated myself to a new lipstick yesterday but for the first time I've taken all the old ones with only a little bit in and melted them together. This has given me a whole new pot and a lovely colour. Normally I'd have just thrown them away:o
