just been on holiday(cheaper, cooler and quieter now and still too hot for OH who stayed in the shade!)had a "free" lunch courtesy of Boots card by using points for 2 meals deals at the airport to take on the plane, sandwich, cake and drink cost £3.49 so good value compared to plane food anyway

stayed at a lovely hotel I found through 1 of the comparison sites then googled and found the hotle had its own web site and got a room for 25% less AND 20% off all food and drinks whilst there :) pays to shop around

I used the new food slicer on a tiger loaf. I had to cut the loaf into thirds to fit on the slicer. Wow, what a differance. Thoose neatly sliced slices of bread are lasting much longer.
I also sliced up the gammon.

Oh I do have a new money saving idea!
For thoose on economy 7 electric have you seen that some washing machines now have a timer you can set for the middle of the night.

Hiya, I have just brought a table lamp that was redundent back into use.
I have put it on the bookcase in the hall with a 40w saver bulb in it, tonight I will put it on when it gets dark to save using the 60w hall light downstairs. I could have put a new bulb in the hall light but I think the lamp will look cosy in winter.

julie_d And if you're out all day at work and attach it to a timer, you can set it to come on automatically when it gets dark to make the burglars think your house is occupied.

Hiya, I think the burglars would have a shock in our house as there is nearly always someone in and a large dog, infact people say he is not a dog he is half a donky.. I am home alot at the mo as I left my full time job and taken a tempery part time one as a sort of busmans holiday.

I love my cooked breakfasts but being a poor student again has left me reeling in shock at the price of bacon

Stayed at a friends house the other night and was served up fried eggs on toast with ham! Bit dubious at first, but it was delicious, also about 1/4 of the price :D

Must have eaten it at least a dozen times since at a cost of about R5 a meal (40p) though have started poaching the eggs and grilling the ham an attempt to save my waistline :rotfl:

    foaming pump bottles for handwash:

Earlier on in this thread there was talk of diluting left over handwash, shampoo etc and using it as handwash. I really struggled to find a vaguely attractive bottle that could stand up to continued use. I've tried several now and the best seems to be 'method' - it has a broad base which makes it stable, it's not too childish like the kandoo and being uncoloured fits in with virtually all decor. It's also the only one other than the kandoo that's lasted more than a month with my kids :-)

I think that they have now stopped doing the foaming hand wash as I was after some and have not seen any in boots etc.

    Which scent was it?

I have some foaming handwash which I bought in my local £shop. I've had it a while now, but they were bright green Disney branded bottles which are fine as I've got kids. However, I had some old lotion/soap dispensers which the fitting fits onto, any have swapped it over in the grown-up bathroom as it's ceramic (the fitting was white, so it looks OK). I've left the plastic one in the kids loo though as I don't fancy if they drop it! Oh and I use Mr T's 50p bubble bath to fill mine, diluted 50/50.

Henna wax hair conditioner is my must buy now. My hair is half way down my back and really trying to watch the pennies at the moment, so when I saw this (used it years ago) I bought it. 500g tub for 79p (Bodycare, though since seen it in Home Bargains), I only need a splodge about the size of a 50p piece (comb it through with a wide toothed comb), so I reckon the tub will last me 40-50 washes.
