I think I am off to buy a foodslicer next week as I have just read on hear what a saving they are:j. It would stop Oh slicing thick chunks of cheese to make his sarnie. He is such a big mouse!

When I buy a gamon to cook in the slow cooker it will be thinly sliced instead of hand slicing chunks.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.
  • i dont put my heating on either, when it gets cold i bring a duvet down and snuggle up. its a bit uncomfortable for visitors, but the upside is, they dont over stay their welcome!!
also i never have the hot water on, i boil a kettle to wash up, the washing machine is cold tap only, and the shower is electric. last winter my gas was £34 for the quarter :)

We always grate up our cheese as soon as we get it home from the shop, and then store in a plastic box. It goes much further that way.

Yes, I grate up some cheese too for cooking, oh likes to slice his for a sandwich but sometimes also eats the spread cheese.
The food slicer would also be used for bread. Prehaps the tiger loaf! if it fits or for the homemade bread as I have a bread machine.
I also think if you use a slicer for gammon or pork, it would stretch that bit more as there would be no doorstep slices.
I am going to try the cookworks slicer from Argos for £29.99. A lot of old MSE's recomend it.

I bought that slicer and sold it on ebay. I could never get the hang of it! You know those little mandolin slicers, that you use to peel vegetables, they slice cheese thinly too.

There's one that's been sat here for ages and never used. My mum bought it. I'm trying to find uses for it: I hate having loads of unused gadgets.
