I was in Tesco yesterday and noticed that their borax was all reduced to half price and had a discontinued ticket underneath. I don't know if it's reduced in all stores though or if they were just getting rid of it in that store because they also had a few other bits of their Naturally cleaning range reduced with a discontinued ticket.Dum Spiro Spero0

ang our Tesco says Discontinued on things they are just not selling in our store anymore. I found this out with the own brand cleanser I used to use. They actually sold it in another store when I was visiting my friend in Stoke so stocked up. All gone now tho...
Or perhaps they are rebranding/relaunching like Boots who keep changing the labels on their Botanics range etcWhat Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -

Its probably because Borax is going to be replaced by a Borax substitute as of June, so i would stock up while its cheap and still available! :money:0 -
Saldy not in any of our chemists or supermarkets including Boots. ONe thing that annoys me is not being able to buy things in large quantities such as white vinegar, borax, Bicarb etc... yet everyone says you should use these to money save and be green. Why don't stores give us what we want?
You can buy bigger quantities of white vinegar, bicarb, soda crystals etc... from the manufacturer directly, try www.dripak.co.uk. hope this helps.0 -

The potato flour is a throw back to when I was trying a wheat free diet. I get it from Holland and Barrett. It's quite economical as you only use a little at a time e.g. 2 teaspoons will thicken half a pint of gravy. I'm sure cornflour would work just as well but it takes more cooking.

Bella.
When I first met my husband he would cook a curry and put SMASH in it. He told me the cook at his local inidan restaurant told him that is what they did to thicken the balti. I thought he was mad! I now think the chief meant potato flour, and not instant mash. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
He still does it and I refuse to eat it. He only cooks it when I am out.

has any one else suffered as a result of the post office charges on "large" letters? My son sent me a mother's day card and the PO put a note through my door saying I would have to pay £1.15 extra to collect a letter.(this involved getting to the sorting office by 9 a.m as the PO have recently closed our PO!)The card was not that big(I would say average size) and unless you made a habbit of measuring every item of post you would not know it needed a more expensive stamp. The posties at the sorting office were not happy with the system and said they had loads of the notes to put through at Christmas. If i had not known a card was on the way I would probably not have picked it up which would have been very upsetting for both my son and myself.I also have been "guilty" of sending a large letter this week when I sent my sister a birthday card.....her PO did not charge the extra.Seems a real rip off by the PO and am amazed they lose money when doing scamsb like this.Sorry to moan ,just wondered if otheres had same problem at mother's day?0

When they first introduced the new stamps, the PO sent out a guide, like a paper version of the size thingie in the PO and I just sling my letters against this to check - they might still have them available if it would help. Many card shops also usually print a "large letter stamp" warning on the back of their larger cards/packaging.

Same happened to me with a birthday card from my dad. It was not particularly big but was longer than A5 which meant it was a large letter! The lady asked if it was my birthday and didn't charge me as it was.
I think almost always now they do say on the back if they're large letters or not.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

It happened to me at Christmas Rosemary, for a Christmas card from friends and I probably wouldn't have bothered to collect it either which would have upset them too. Makes me mad, what a rip off:mad: . It was also an average size card, they couldn't make it more difficult to send mail than they do now, about time they opened up postal deliveries to the competition, we'd all vote with our feet then, they have us over a barrel.0
