has any one else suffered as a result of the post office charges on "large" letters?

Not as a result of the large-letters thing - but we did a training night for Scout leaders and the training guy sent us each a small package of materials afterwards, but the postage wasn't quite enough to cover the weight (the difference was a matter of a few grams). Every one of us had to go and collect it, and pay the extra postage due, plus a fee. The thing is, he'd posted them by handing them over at the post office counter - why didn't they tell him then? Grrrrr....

I've never seen a card which needed to be sent large without the large letter bit at the back, although I guess you could easily miss it.
Did he hand it over at a post office or pay for it at a post office counter?
If he was just handing it over it may not have been weighed so the person serving probably couldn't have just said. Or may have said since it was just a few grams they would put it through at the lower bracket. (I've had it happen before where I was 5g over a limit but they didn't bother about it!)

He paid for it at the PO counter - IIRC it was franked there rather than stamped.

    thats kinda shocking then!
I thought the machines could only print out labels that matched the weight and couldnt be altered?
Is ridiculous the fees that they put on them

If the PO weighed and franked it then there ought not to be a fine for having incorrect amount paid. Unfortunately PO and RM are no longer the same company... Give them back their monopoly!!!!!

My local Tesco (and 2 others near by) have the bag of veg that was on offer for Mothers Day (large chicken plus roast veg for a fiver). Anyway the bag is huge and has probably 10 large potatoes (large enough to be used as baking potatoes anyway), 4 parsnips (large) and eight large carrots all for 40p. I asked at customer services and they said most Tesco stores have them at this reduced price.

We did this - twice - since we had so many guests on Mother's Day. We had the two chickens on the day, saving two breasts, which are frozen, and then I made stock with the carcasses, which we are having as soup today and risotto tomorrow. The parsnips got mashed with cream and the carrots were steamed. We still have lots of spuds left. I know I should be buying free range meat but it seemed too good to miss.

Don't waste money on night creams for your face. I always get complimented on my nice skin and I use olive oil. It is used in baby massage as it is so gentle. Almond oil is great for nails too

I pay for my pre-paid prescriptions by monthly DD.

£11.?? per calendar month as opposed to £22 every four weeks - flipping heck I wish I'd 'done the math' much sooner :o!

best thing to do is buy online(no postage :j ) a 3 month one(used to be 4 months so when they changed the price we thought it got cheaper:mad: very sneaky) then stock up at the beginning and end of time period and go without 1 for a month or so before renewing so works out cheaper than buying a yearly one :j :j :j
