I have a 6 month old and we've just started weaning onto puree's. Instead of buying expensive weaning tubs etc I've been using old yoghurt pots to freeze up batches of purees (sterilising them of course!) Tried the ice cube trays for this but she's eating so much now yoghurt pots better as they are bigger.

I mix body lotion with the holiday skin stuff - makes it go a bit further

Doesn't this make the yoghurt taste a bit funny tho..?

Supermarkets now show price per kilogram. (usually in the tiniest letters on the shelf pricing labels.)

If you shop on the basis of the price per kg and not box price, it is surprising how many errors they make. I have regularly found they make errors so smaller boxes/packets/tins can be priced lower per kg than larger versions.

It is also a good strategy when buying meat to check prices this way and make sure you are getting value for money. Remember that you may get better value if there is no bone in the meat; some places will charge by weight - including the bone!

There is a natural compost activator which if used occasionally is available as a waste product from all of us.

No, not that one. But if you collect some of your own wee (a pint is enough) and throw it on your compost with fresh cuttings/branches/clippings etc., it acts as a free and very effective activator.

Please use a container though - dont point and spray you'll only get locked up!

When giving my kids ice cream I always use cones and give them a lot less actual ice cream than in a bowl. I only serve up the best ice cream (usually home made but sometimes bought) because I think the cheap stuff is rubbish, so I figure this is saving me quite a lot of money. The children don't notice at all.

Any other ways of sneakily saving pennies that your family doesn't notice?

    Ness.

Am off to see Mr T soon and will definitely be following your tip Ness as my DS and her friend asked for ice-cream last night after tea and I said that there was some in the freezer. It was lovely Carte D'or (brand new box) and have just gone and got some only to find the little monkeys have eaten 2/3 of the tub:mad: .
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:

....... as used by Jamie in last night's (thursday) episode of Emmerdale. Supposedly an 'old secret country recipe' for compost making!:rotfl:

In my experience, they'd miss the compost bin anyway :rotfl:

They also do a foaming one - I have it in my kitchen and save loads of handwash as you only use about 10% liquid soap to 90% water.

Have you got a link to that item, or a name to search for on the website please? I can't find any foaming dispenser on there at all, so they've either stopped doing it (hope not) or I'm not using the right search terms.
