Sneaky ways to save the pennies

If you just want squirty pump-action dispenser bottles (rather than foaming ones) I just bought 2 in Morrisons for 19p each last week! They are frosted plastic but look quite nice with coloured 'hand wash' (which is actually Lidl's 16p shower gel, mixed with the end of a bottle of blue coloured foam bath at the moment - DH & SK's will never know - LOL!).
I put body lotion in the other one as I have really dry hands and need to moisturise after each wash at the mo - it takes me too long to take the lid off the aquaeuos (sp!) cream every time I wash my hands after going to the loo, so a quick squirt is ideal! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Where can o get the dried veg from?0
-
You can get the dried veg from any of the supermarkets, just go in and ask the Asda boy or Tesco's or whatever.
They also do dried packets of seperate veg, onions, peppers and mushrooms etc.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

some great ideas there & all over this thread, thankyou all ;-)
l hope everyone's using qidco for flea-bay!
some ideas of my own:
.if you have sensitive skin you can wash with aquaeous cream
.oillatum goes a very long way & is great for softening skin if left on before before shaving
.morrisons 20+p squash is v nice, also really well diluted still tastes good!
.cheap hair conditioner left on & covered with clingfilm makes a good deep-conditioning mask
.porridge oats make a good all over face/body wash & scrub-you can add all sorts to this, like honey which is a great 'superfood' lol(see the money saving health & beauty thread-don't know how to post a link, sorry)
.lakeland do re-useable green plastic bags that keep things fresh in the fridge for ages,l put some tissue or paper towel in the bottom & have even kept bagged salad fresh for days!
.l use tennis balls instead of wash balls, they're much cheaper & MIL gets them for the dog once they're unbounced lol
.l always use veg/olive oil instead of baby oil cos its natural, moisturises into the skin as baby oil clogs up the pores preventing cleansing, moisturising etc
.own brand marmite & 10 calorie packet soup make a good sub for slimfast soups
.lemon juice makes food taste saltier so less salt used..not cheaper but healthier at least!
chickpeas, aduki beans etc as filler for a change from lentils et al.
.most chemists inc boots l think sell own brand corsodyl mouthwash for a lot less cost
hope these work for anyone else...Carpe Jugulem0 -

Hi
I've just borrowed a book from the library which covers the Good Housekeeping issues about the Homefront and how people coped with rationing, make do and mend etc One of the tips from here was to write sideways on a piece of paper as you could fit more on. A couple of links I've found which may be worth a closer look for those, like me, who are looking at all aspects of saving money both by bigger steps and small steps are:
http://www.allthatwomenwant.co.uk/wartimerecipes.htm
http://www.ukhomefront.co.uk/6.html
I think in the current economic and ecological times many of us are perhaps rethinking some of the ways we do things.
Hope there's something of use in the sneaking saving pennies approach:D
