The J&J kids ones are the ones I use! :rotfl: With the stickers taken off they just look like generic soap dispensers.

I saw one in Tesco that would look more fitting in an average bathroom (a simple, clear bottle), but it cost £2.50 more that the J&J ones so I stuck with them. It was a brand called 'Simple' or 'Natural', or something that like.

Edit: After doing a little looking around, it seems that the pump mousse dispensers are the same sort of foaming dispensers. The Botanics Sensitive Cleansing Mousse (Boots website) looks like it would do the job, along with a number of other products. If you're in a shop try one out - if you have to pump it and it comes out like a foam, it's a foam dispenser. :)

    Hiya peeps!
i havn't finished reading all of your posts yet but these foaming bottles that you are chatting about I saw a few in Poundland the other day. Kandoo ones AND simple ones. I couldn't live without my local pound shop now!!!:D:D:D:D

Ps. Also Asda do pump pots in their bathroom section in some great styles very cheaply!

About plolonging the life of your washing machine.... 19 years ago, my paents bought a really cheap washing machine, which they didn't expect to last longr than a couple of years..two weeks ago my step brother took it to the dump! Dad is sure that the reason it has lasted for so long is that they had it filling from the hot pipe, so it never had to heat any water..don't know if this is right or not though.
Would be really nice if this were the reason, but unfortunately the guy who fixes my w machine etc reckons machines aren't built to last these days, he still has a machine that is well over 12 years old, and reckons that when it dies, he's gonna buy another really old one and fix it up.

Probably doesn't count as "sneaky", but if Mr LW needs to pop into Central MK for anything (haircut, for example) I always go with him, even if I haven't anything I particularly need to go for, then we can park for free using my Blue Badge.
It gets me out of the house for a bit, too.:D Luckily I'm very capable of window-shopping without putting my hand in my purse.:rotfl:

I bought some cheap carpet tiles and tied them to all of our shoes to save wear and tear on the carpet.
I also bought some pit helmets with lamps (well we don't have miners anymore !!) and refuse to have the lighting on except on birthdays or christmas. I've manafed to run a cable to the street light and I charger them when everyones is at school and work.
When it's cold we play igllos and eskimos - keeps everyone amused
And as for toilet rolls , never bought one we just use a sponge and wash carefully.
I know we all have to save money but some of these are a bit far ! (but amusing)

I like to 'wash' my hair everyday, but only use shampoo occasionally. i use hot water and massage as I would with shampoo. I used to have very greasy hair, it was a bit sticky for a few days, but is no longer greasy - and OH's dandruff has gone too.

I use shampoo about once every 3 months - or if I go into a very polluted area. OH hasn't used shampoo at all since November last year.

Both our hair looks better than when we shampooed all the time

I tried this this morning and couldn't wait to tell everyone that my hair feels fine. It was 'tired' and lank, and I must admit I was sceptical. Anyway, I washed and massaged with clear water as ailz, then used mousse and hairspray as usual, and my hair looks and feels fine. It is not as flyaway either. I am now looking forward to seeing the long-term results. If OK my hair will get washed with shampoo every 5/6 weeks at the hairdressers.

Just thought of something else I do.

Whenever I use the oven, I always leave the door open when I've turned it off. That way, it doesn't need to work as hard to cool itself and uses less electricity, and all the heat escapes into the room and heats my house :)

Don't do this if you have pets/children that could burn themselves, though.

I hate putting the oven on for one item, in fact I refuse to do that so when I'm baking I make two lots and freeze one lot uncooked then when the oven is going on I pop in the frozen stuff and have he baking done 'free'.

    Things I freeze:
    fruit and plain scones
crumble topping - fruit is frozen too
    fruit buns
    pastry cases
    mince pies
    jam slice
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me

You could still putthe oven door down but put a safety gate across the kitchen doorway, that way keeping the kids and pets safe.

  • Great thread! Some of the things i do:

I NEVER buy makeup at full price. My local Poundland has makep now and I get cheap Rimel things al the time but occasionally they have Revlon Foundation and powder. its just a case of buying ANY makeup that is a good deal and then saving it. even if I don't need it right then. ;)
I bought a BRILL mascara from there that retails at £8. the best one ever and I have used it loads.

When Mascara is getting gunky I pour a little just boiled water over the wand and mix in the pot. it lasts another week or so. I do this a few times, but then I know its on the way out. my mum and nannan have been doing this for years :D

If my pressed powder compact is gettin really low i grind it down with the back of my blusher brush and pop it into another loose powder pot I keep.

I use Read it Swap it for "new" books link here: http://www.readitswapit.co.uk

I use websites for Trial products. I have done this for few months and so far I have tried a new womens shaver (with vouchers!) and Danone activia 16 days worth (and vouchers!)
If you are interested in this website please send me Private mail and I will send them your mail addy?
(my friend introduced me and she just trialled a Coffee Machine that she could keep after that costs £150!)

I of course use Ebay for buying AND selling things

I always use an airer at night in out hallway (hottest place!) the clothes are ALWAYS dry by morning even in winter.

I do the soap diluting thing and use Foam bath. I use really nice foam bath from Pound shop for the Guest bathroom ;)

I am growing my own chilli plants. I have no garden so these are on the spare bedroom windowsill:rolleyes:

My Hubby drinks quite a lot of dilute no added sugar dilute orange juice. we buy the Netto's one for 50p it is exactly the same one as the Morrisons one. Same shaping on the bottle!
I can't stress how good Netto's and Aldi are for (some) things. I hate supermaret snobbery:p

I am sure I will think opf loads I have forgotten. was writing a "mental" list in my head last night. needless to say, I have forgotten most of them! :o
