Wanabee Sybil, not sure if you already do this, but I found putting the Ace bleach in a spray bottle to spray the stains, makes it last a really long time. It is great stuff for removing stains.

    Lentil Mushroom and Carrot dahl.

    1T oil
    onion chopped
    small piece ginger grated
    garlic chopped
    1 green chilli (seeds removed)
    1tsp black mustard seeds
    1tsp cumin seeds
    1T tom puree
    Bag carrots
    6oz lentils.
    Tin tomatos
    Garam masala and coriander.

Fry mustard seeds, cumin seeds and turmeric in oil. Add onion, chilli, garlic, ginger tom puree. I add a little water if it gets dry (as slimming only use 1T oil)

Add carrots, lentils (washed) and carrots and tinned toms and chopped mushrooms and water to cover. Cook for about 40 minutes. Near the end add Garam masala and then chopped coriander.

I keep the coriander in freezer and just snip off with scissors.

This is it in basic form. You can vary quantities and tweak with other spices etc if you like.

I like to add one T of single cream to a portion which makes it divine instead of just nice. HTH

Serve also with basmati rice cooked with a few cloves which makes it nice and fragrant.

Thank you, I shall definitely try this for my husband's shirts - I don't know what he does sometimes. He says he works in an office, but his shirts look like they have been worn down a coal mine.

:o I'm not going to even try and find all the stains on my little bear's clothes. He is just learning to feed himself and his very, very kind uncle has just bought him his first colouring pens. Thank goodness for Ace bleach.

well I had a shower this morning and didn't use shower gel (as per normal) and didn't use shampoo either - not as normal. Used mousse and gel as normal, and my hair seems .......... Normal!!

so ok so far, I'll carry on and see how it goes

eagerlearner, you said that you use shampoo about every 3 months or so. Can I ask what the trigger is to use it on those occasions? Is there a build up of something, or it gets extra greasy or something.

If I can carry on with this, my hair would get shampooed at the hairdresser every six weeks when I get it cut, and every 8 weeks or so when I put a colour on it (the colour has some kind of cleanser built into it). If I need to go through a greasy phase of a few weeks to come out the other side, I'll never get there!

  • Has anybody got any advice on finding cheaper mock chicken and other meat subsititutes?

Holland and Barrett do a fairly large packet of soya chunks for about £1.39 but the trouble with this is we have never mastered cooking it without them coming out chewy! If anyone else has used these with success, please help!

I used to find, as I went on , that I needed more starter. I also used to add dry milk powder (Marvel I think!)

Mind you haven't made any for years!

Hmmm, I always addd powdered milk anyway - for my 2nd batch will try 5 tablespoons of 'starter' next time and 2.5 tablespoons of milk powder and see how it goes :T

Sorry wasn't me :o - I shampoo & condition twice a week as I have dry frizzy hair - would be interested to see if the bicarb and water works though as a shampoo x

It was me. No I just do it because I sort of feel that I should. OH hasn't used anything for about 9 months now - and I must admit his hair looks in better condition than mine. I think I'm just messing it up by using shampoo - I've been thinking of leaving it longer.

Mine went from very greasy to 'normal' in less than a week
