I hate the way messages get scoffed before you send them!

I'm sleeping better, but need to sort out bedclothes, I'm still on my summer duvet that I've been using all winter! We use 2 single duvets so that we're both comfy. I never need a warm one these days- delights of (early !!) menopause.

Canadian cup is 250ml, american is 8fl.oz. British teacup I believe is 7oz! As there isn't egg or anything per unit in the recipe it doesn't matter, will just come out a bit smaller or bigger. I was thinking of doing half recipe. Might soak the fruit before hand. I have some rather dodgy creme de cassis that ds found in the cupboard on Saturday night when he was looking for stuff to make cocktails. Yes, I know he isn't 15 yet, but he's my butler!

Hi, I have been following your thread with interestsince it started but always in a 'lurking' kind if way.
But I have a question about the Bran flakes cake. I have a box of all bran, the strands rather then the flakes. I bought them and tried a mouthful and they taste just like cardboard! I was wondering if I would be able to use these in Shaz's recipe? Hope you don't mind me squeezing in on the thread??
By the way I think you are amazing. I have tried your hummus weezle and I'm pretty empted to go out and 'forage' for some nettles!!

My mum always used to do bran cake using "bran worms" :D rather than the flakes - she'd just soak them in the milk first until they disintigrated, so I think it work fine. cel x

    Hiya Lucasmum,:hello:

Thanks for posting, you are more than welcome to join in! A good evolution of shaz's recipe for all those with an unused box of all-bran at the back of the cupboard ;)

Maybe you will have encouraged other 'lurkers' to have their say too, the more the merrier!:D

About the nettles, do give them a go, free food can't be bad these days eh?

Hi weezl i used standard american cups which is 250ml but as all the ingredients are the same volume wise you could theoretically use any size as long as the ratio remains the same ie equal quantities of everything

Hubby says he used to make something similar years ago using all bran and just used a mug

    Hope this helps

One loaf already gone................thinking of trying a date and walnut one

    Hi Shaz,

Tea, coffee and water were all I could stretch to! And the milk in tea/ coffee helps with the calcium levels. Because I like proper coffee, my spends on that have been over £3, :oso if you like fizz and I like coffee, I'm sure it evens out!

But yes, it sounds like a fizzy machine, like a soda stream could be a useful investment for you!
    :money:
I guess everyone will have their own pleasurable food and drink things that they don't want to give up, and why should we?! But I still think we can do it cheaper and healthier than we think. :D

    *pops into thread*

Shaz, don't you have a Lidl near you, they do 2-litre bottles of fizzy water for around the 20p-ish mark (been a while since I bought one) and it tastes fine - I'm sure I couldn't tell the difference between it and San Pellegrino (my college vice! :o ) if it was a blind tasting.

Weezl, how would you suggest I go about smuggling some fruit into my DH's diet, he has a psychological block when it comes to eating fruit, he says it makes him feel sick! -silly man! I've tried smoothies but they are hugely expensive to buy and make.
