Well...my two pennorth is that I'd like the "party" to stay here on this thread. It is a fitting end to this thread - and it is after all the end of this thread and a Brand New Day about to open with Weezl soon starting off her new thread - so its not like it will be in the middle of a thread and those in the future feel they have to "wade through" it (and I am personally always very conscious of "readers of the future"). It is only a few pages worth.

Awww...Board Guides...please dont spoil our fun.

I know Weezl will accept whatever you decide - but then she's a nicer person than I am;) :D - so no wonder she has made so many friends here.

I would like the party to stay too as it "winds up" the whole theme and most importantly shows that saving money on food does not have to mean sacrificing taste or nutrition - or most importantly - "FUN!"

Frugal does not have to mean living on thick porridge cut into slabs and wearing knickers hand woven from nettles!

I may not be saying much but I am avidly following you all through this thread (and into the next!)... please make sure you let me (and everyone else) know where to go next!!

Those of you who are not 'too' far from Bristol.. there is a freeeconomy group that towards the end of july are meeting for a "food for free" evening - "a forage, walk and a meal if we are lucky". SOunds like it will be good fun and I am hoping to be there - let me know if you would like the details if any of you can come (I'd love to meet all of you!!)

That Freeconomy event sounds good Yategirl - hope it goes well. I knew 'bout that and would be there if I was in the vicinity - but 'fraid I'm not.
Freeconomy is an idea I am just following with interest from the sidelines at mo.

Can I express a leetle preference here myself - for maybe possibly (if weezl wants us of course) being able to comment/add our own recipes/etc on a weezl personal official blog (that way - if we want to "gift" weezl a recipe for communal use/her to put in any future book we can do so - and no "copyright" elsewhere issues). The position has been established that any recipe that a poster puts on M.S.E. does remain their own "property" and they can post it elsewhere if they want to subsequently. Penelope Penguin has clarified that a persons "property" remains their own to do with as they subsequently please (even if they have "shared" it on M.S.E.). So - if it came from your head it IS yours. I have certainly put a few bits on my blog that I first shared on M.S.E. (as they originated from my head in the first place) and if I ever decide in the future to write a book myself then I will use anything I decide to that I myself have put on my own official blog elsewhere (even if I have shared it). Cant see that happening - but maybe a fiction book somewheres along the line in the future (says she - not entertaining "starving author in a garret" fantasies - blow the starving idea;) ).

I personally get a bit "lost" with Yahoo groups and the tendency to get positively "deluged" with emails if one joins one - but I will struggle manfully (womanfully) to see if I can find my way in if thats where Weezl decides to make a "home". 'Tis her decision 'arter all.

    Errr....is that okay our Weezl?

Well said Elona - not been on here for a few days (and I haven't read the party pages yet) but it's part of this whole story. If new members coming along don't want to read it then surely we can credit people with the ability to skip forward a few pages till it gets back "on topic".

Back in a bit to catch up - pudding looks lovely ISOM!

I'm sorry I missed the shindig on Saturday, sounds like you had a great time and that Bush slow cooker story was hilarious, Weezl!

I would just like to chime in with congratulations and tell you how much this thread has helped me. I honestly feel that since I started reading it, a switch has flipped in my head.

I think having to slash my food bill a few years back when I was a DFW (and consequently also working v long hours) meant that my associations with very frugal cooking and eating were counting out the pennies to buy a bag of rice, boiling some up after a 12 hr work day and going to bed fretting about how I would pay my rent.

I think the tone of the thread, set by the calm, inventive and self-deprecating Weezl has been one of best things about it.

I look forward to reading about your new challenge.

Best wishes to all contributors (and lurkers!)

    Hi all

From a mostly lurker, can I just add congratulations and a big thank you. As everyone else has said much better than me, it's been the fun and good nature of this thread that has kept me reading. I'm sure a lot more of us are now costing things out and wondering about nutritional info. And I for one cannot walk past a patch of nettles now without thinking of Weezl!
