We are often 'practising' mechanics & use washing up liquid with a sprinkle of sugar to get out the muck & grime. Works just as well--if not better than--the usual green slimy stuff you pay a fortune for in the shops.
Think I might have said this already, but I use witch hazel & water mix in an atomiser as a deo/anti-p. cuz of skin & perfume sensitivity.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Yep! I love the thickness of it, I never buy spaghetti anymore.In_Search_Of_Me wrote: »Maybe as a task we should come up with some foodie beauty treatments...just a though. I've heard that olive oil & sea salt or brown sugar is a good body scrub. Anyone tried either?!!
Olive oil and brown sugar is lush for the skin.Mayo - really? doesn't it go all gloopy and sticky when you wash it out???
I have curly hair that tends to frizz (spend a fortune on stupid anti-frizz promising gunk that works fine until you sleep!!). Might be trying the olive oil thingy tonight I think (or maybe the low fat mayo that's in the fridge)
Then at least I may be able to wait for the next special offer on the stupid stuff
You need to do a thorough wash after using mayo. I can't really do that because it's too much protein and makes my hair hard.
For curly hair, one thing I know works to cut down frizziness is washing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo.
I know that sounds disgusting, but it really works. There is enough detergant in conditioner to clean the hair. link
I've been doing this for years and it works.Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -
Thanks Guapa. will definitely try that one - the link is interesting, I already don't use a hairdryer and rarely comb my hair (unless just before washing).working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

Hullo, Me lovelies, how's your wednesday?
re: coffee grounds (once used for coffee!) as an exfoliant, I roasted mine in the oven to completely dry them, then sieved them. The very fine powder, I added to half face wash half moisturiser for a facial exfoliator, and added the coarser stuff to some shower gel for use on the 'hip and thigh' area.:o
Seems to work well, but rubbing coffee grounds into your facial skin does lead to a feeling of having had an espresso for a little while, I felt quite wired!:D
Shaz, I love the idea of candles in cups and shells! That's inspired! Christmas plans forming already....:T
Now then. To return to the sig situation... 12p remaining was feeling ok, not too panicky, had made Mr weezl perform a freezer audit, shouting out the contents to me with my geeky spreadsheet awaiting. And it was all looking ok, Breakfasts lunches and teas for 19 days at least, and there's only 14 of the challenge. (and I'm going to a party at ISOM's on the 28th:T :T :T )
Then, just as all looked well, got a colleague's email saying a leaving do is actually a 'bring and share' with us contributing a dish fo 20 people. It';s on the 30th of June (last day of the challenge!!!) gutted.
So I ran thru a few options. Buy it from next month's pot and just start that challenge a day early?
But it feels like cheating!
OOh got to go, will post my cunning plan in a bit..

Hello! Wow, 12p! You've done fantastically - can't wait to see what your cunning plan is
Some great ideas there for body scrubs etc. I've not bought body scrub for months, just use salt with olive oil or added to some shower gel. Must admit 'nice' body lotion is one of my weaknesses but I do use olive oil on elbows/ knees.. and also on dry ends of hair.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Hiya,
Ok redsquirrel, here is the cunning plan. I have enough ingredients for 4 loaves of wholemeal bread. My mum likes my homemade bread, and resents paying £1.15 for the one in Tesco which she thinks it is as good as (if not better!).
So, here's the plan, my parents are coming to visit tomorrow to see :j NEIL DIAMOND:j , ahem. And I have said they can have 4 loaves for 60p a loaf. They are very happy with this, as for them it's like BOGOF!
I'll need to replace the flour, at 55p, but that'll still leave £1.85, for which I think I can knock up a rice salad for 20 for the bring and share 'do'.:D
I might even be able to keep a little back, who knows?!;)
Happy times!
Now please, no-one tell me it's cheating?!

weezl - your budget was for the two of you - it didn't include catering for groups. Maybe you should allow yourself to take the money for the leaving do out of a different pot of money - like you would Xmas and birthday gifts?0
