you could try ebay
but to be honest it it works for your skin, then £12 isnt a lot compared to some others!
and if one tube has lasted you since the summer ........
you can get it in boots, so maybe ask for boots vouchers for xmas / bdays and stock up0 -
Room for a new dry and scaly one here?
My skin is definitely dry, but only slightly sensitive, and I don't have reactions to many products (except shampoos, which are normally really bad to my hands). I have psoriasis and eczema, but mainly in the areas under my clothes at this time of year - at its worst, I reckon I have leg dandruff... My feet are particularly bad, and my hands blister and scale easily.
I find Clarins is the best for my face (alpine herb cleanser and yellow toner), although the various moisturisers don't do a great deal for me. I am also fine with The Sanctuary facial wash (the clay thermal one, I think), which leaves my skin lovely and soft.
What I would love is recommendations for a hand cream. I have tried both Clarins and The Sanctuary, and although neither irritates me, I am still blistered down my fingers. I have tried Vaseline Intensive Care, Norwegian Forumula and Eight Hour Cream, but none of these have done any good.
I find the Boots intensive footcream with the little socks to be brilliant - perhaps I should just get some cotton gloves and try it on my hands!0 -

I was coming round to that way of thinking myself (it works for me and has lasted ages) but I'm always on the look-out for a bargain.I think I'll use my Boots points to buy it. Thank you for your reply.

Hello Hollyberry, welcome to the sensitive skin club! It might be an obvious suggestion but have you tried aqueous cream? It's like E45 cream (no colouring or fragrances just moisturising stuff) but about half the price. You can get it in supermarkets or Boots, Superdrug etc. for around £3 for a 500g tub (apparently Home Bargains have had it for £1 a tub). You can also use it to wash with if you're also sensitive to soapy things. It's not particularly glamorous but it works for me.0 -

Ahhh - thank you. :T I've tried E45, but not the aqueous cream. Will pick some up to try - at £3 or less, that's a real bargain.0 -
That's ok, let us know how you get on - at least if it doesn't work for you, you won't have spent too much. I get a bit fed up with spending money on face creams which I then end up giving away. (So I should just grit my teeth and buy that £12 face cream, eh?
) There's also some suggestions for hand creams further back on this thread. Good luck!

My skin is very dry all over.
Every day after bathing (soap only used in the necessary areas) I liberally apply virgin (not extra virgin - a little too heavy) oil to arms, legs & torso. It doesn't smell & gets quickly absorbed - no messing my clothes.
Once a week I do a dry skin exfoliate too (using a dry loofah - which then gets a good wash).
My skin is no longer flakey & scaley.
It's cheap (ish) & natural."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
I am another olive oil fan - I lightly use it occasionally in the shower then rinse off. No need for it to be fancy expensive olive oil, as joyfull says.
Sometimes I mix it with brown soft sugar as an overall gentle body exfoliator - no chemicals and lovely smell, it dissolves easily, plus no need to buy something specific for exfoliating. And of course, greener as less plastic...
Now - to try and find some aquaceous cream and give it a go!MFW #185

I had bad eczema as a child and have now been left with very dry skin. I use a gentle natural bath oil which has got a dispersant in it which makes the oil 'blend' into the water. The skin is then able to absorb the vegetable and essential oils. After the bath your skin is very moisturised and you do not need any further creams etc.
I like the one from The Celtic Herbal Company, not cheap at £8 but you don't need much oh and they have an offer on now for 30% off the total range.

I hope you find something that works for you.

My hands are an absolute mess this week, with blood on my knuckles on both hands. I've been doing more cleaning and washing up. I hate the washing up, I really do (because it makes my hands dry, don't mind it otherwise). Maybe one day I'll win the lottery, and buy a dishwasher lol. I've been putting Hemp Cream on at night time. But, well, nothing works long term.
Basically I hate this season too, my hands aren't too bad in the summer, but in the winter, they are dry, rough, scaly and covered in blood patches. They are truly embarrassing. I'm literally at the end of my tether nowI'm 36, but my hands look like they belong to an 80 year old
