Yes I do different days at each, don't double book myself. One school has about 30 invigilators on books so you do not get all the days you put down. Quite often you get contacted at short notice so it works well then that I can often help out when they really need someone urgently. You also find you may be called at different dates by schools to cover internal/trial exams they do.Jan Grocery challenge

As most subjects are modular there are exams throughout the year, I've just finished the AS & A2 January exams.
There are many schools that do ICT exams, if you're OK with basic computer skills, these are quite frequent throughout the year too. (you made need to give technical help if PCs freeze etc..)
Some Adult Education Centres need invigilators too and this can involve evening work.0 -
Thank you for inspiration. I have took early retirement and have been looking for some flexible, short term work. Phoned up 7 local schools yesterday - got a 'no' from 3, an invite to go for a chat on monday from another and 2 application forms in the post from 2 schools who are actively recruiting at the mo. Thanks again everyone0

Can a parent be an invigilator in an exam their child is sitting?
And not just an ordinary exam, a controlled test performed in a class room?0 -
thanks for this, something I def gonna look into! Very helpful and great timing0

Yes, I think so - as long as another, impartial, adult (like a teacher) is present.0 -
I used to do this, I worked through an agency which also supplied TAs and teachers to schools (I did all three). The advantage of working with my agency was that they paid a flat fee of £30 for half a day, so if I was lucky enough to get a 30 minute exam I would be in and out within an hour, £30 richer! They also handled liaising with the schools, so I didn't have to apply to lots of places, negotiate my hours, or deal with getting paid at all, the agency handled it all. I also only needed one CRB, though I had to pay for it myself.0

Interesting thread I hadn't noticed before.
What about males, no children, no experience of school (apart from when having to be there!). Are they wanted as well? Also are we expected to provide a CRB in addition to what the school may want? I've never needed one before.0
