Good afternoon all, I am now declaring myself officially finished for April with a total spend of £97.05 :j :j :j

My May target is £100, as usual.

I went and did my £10 shop at lunchtime, for store cupboard items in lieu of all the alleged price increases we can expect soon. The following is what I got:

    Milk - £1.34 (needed)
    1 x Lge table salt @ 30p
    4 x 1kg long grain rice @ 45p
    5 x 1kg pasta quills @ 20p (last 5 on the shelf)
    5 x Spaghetti @ 24p
    10 x tinned chopped tomatoes @ 22p
    5 x toothpaste @ 22p
    4 x washing up liquid @ 14p
    3 x 2 naan breads @ 30p (half price)

Total - £10.40 (it was the half price Naans that did it.

Adding all of the above to what I already have in stock, I have enough in store to feed any number of guests who may arrive this summer so long as they like pasta or rice dishes. :rotfl: The BBE dates range from late 2010 t0 early 2011.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Just realised I haven't declared myself in for May yet.

Can I go down for £285 please. And I know I said the other day it seems impossible to keep it under £300 in this house, but at the moment, that's what my accounts are saying there is to spare - and this is a 5 week month (28 Apr to 1 Jun) to boot _pale_.

I've spent just under £110 on bulk shopping already, but today is a NSD (first in a long while :j ) and hopefully all I should need to buy for the rest of this week, and possibly into early next week, is fruit as it gets eaten :D

....just did my trolley for the month on MySupermarket, with Asda racks up to £108, but I know once I get in there tomorrow and get all the whoopsies and the cheaper versions that aren't on the website, I'll get that total down :D

Hello Mrs M, many thanks for the advice, i wasnt sure if it was the butter or salt that made the difference to the taste. My book said 475gm flour, 25g butter and 1 1/4tsp of salt but it was not very nice at all. I shall give it another go tonight and let you know. Thanks again for your help:D

Hi, not been able to post much these last few weeks, but I have been keeping receipts and am over budget by £21.73!!
April grocery challenge I am declaring £221.73
I know I should have set a budget of £220, but I was hoping to beat that. I blame the price increases that appear every time I hit the shops, and my compulsion to stock up while things are cheap(ish).
My latest moan is on the 20p rise on T's passata from 29p to 49p!! So far the plain tomato is still 29p so I am stocking up whenever I am in there.

Has anyone noticed that many cheap items especially value things are not on tesco.com for delivery, but are plentiful on the shelves? The only one I can think of at the mo is Tesco value sardines in tomato sauce only 17p, but not available on tesco.com. I shop at the store that my delivery would come from so it's not that my store does not stock them. Also value sultanas, we have them in store, but not online...
Does anyone have any more examples of this? Maybe it is a ploy to counteract the mindset of people who buy online to save money on impulse buys.

Anyhoo, off to start reading the many pages of this thread I've to catch up on. MrsM, please count me in for May, my budget will be £220.

    MrsB.
