A couple of small shops for me in the last week, but also several NSD’s which I’m getting better at! Have updated my sig, and have just under £135 to last me though to 2nd May – shouldn’t be a problem as the freezer is full to bursting.

Went to the farmers market this morning and bought some leeks and broccoli, and made a delicious broccoli and cheese soup this afternoon – ever DD enjoyed it and she doesn’t like broccoli!

I’m going to have to stop talking about all the wonderful meals that I’m now making from scratch (thanks for all your ideas) when I’m out with my friends – it is such a total change for me, I’m sure they think I’m making it up…..and I daren’t mention that I’m about to start growing some veg and herbs and have arranged to borrow Mum’s breadmaker to try out while she’s on holiday.

  • Went to Tesco today and I've just noticed that I have been charged for 3 bottles of wine when I only bought 2!!!!!!
What (if anything) can I do?
I feel so annoyed, the total seemed like a lot but I was in a hurry, with DS moaning and a busy queue. I should have checked.
  • Strange!!!! My DS's magazine (school holiday bribery....he paid for half of it) is not on the receipt, and that was £3.99, same as one bottle of wine - that must be karma! Panic over!

NSD for me today, just as well really. The son came over for dinner again, I dont mind as the freezer is packed and he does struggle a bit. So going to make fish pie for a later date. Sat this morning and repotted all my lettuce and Basil, when son came up he knocked over the whole tray of Lettuce, good lord he,s so clumsy, if any of them survive I,ll think myself lucky. Did sow some Raddichio this morning too and Aubergine, just noticed I,m giving my veg capital letters, I wonder why. Well going to look up the recipe for pie now and iron some shirts for work after thats on the go. I,m being very industrious today, maybe I,m nest building lol.

I've had a dire weekend. The cash points locally were targetted by the card cloners on friday so the only way to get cash was over the counter at a branch, which was shut, or via cashback at the supermarket which cost me £1.35 in Chocolate mini rolls but it did give me two happy DDs.

Saturday was a hectic day, we were out for most of it so I offered to treat them to lunch out which is usually a sausage rool in the park. DD2 aged 5 decided to rock the boat with a seafood salad complete with a whole pickled squid like thing with purple tentacles. It smelt disgusting, looked even worse and completely put me off food for the day. She thought it was delicious, as did her elder sibling. £4.08 later... realised we were out of milk. Well not out but the one in the fridge had a best before date of April 6th and I vaguely remembered opening it towards the end of April.

Popped to Tesco for a few bits on our way home. £64.82 later.... I have £31 of clothes that don't fit to return (was anticipating this as DD1 is tall and skinny), used a £10 gift voucher from "Valued Opinions" and £15 clothing discount vouchers. Actual Tesco expenditure £8.82 including 12 pairs of winter school tights and a swimming costume.
Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.50

Go back when it's convenient for you and go to the customer service desk or ask to speak to the manager. They're usually pretty good at refunding for overspends without you having to take the product back. I was once charged for 3 danish pastries but only bought two (not that I should have bought any as I was on a(nother) diet:rotfl: ). In Sainsbury's last week the casier weighed my bananas and it wasn't until I got home notice he'd charged them as Braeburn apples, even though I didn't buy any  . Went back 2 days later and they gave me a full refund, so free bananas :T .

Edit: Just noticed your post about your sons magazine - if I was you still go back as the point is they overcharged for wine, it's their fault if they didn't charge for the mag!!!

Made the mistake of taking OH to Kingsley Village, huge mistake as he had to have eggs and sausages as he thought they were a bargain, £7.47!! We so didn't need them. Oh well, guess he deserves a treat. Also spent another £2.83 at Tescos. The money's going fast this month!
  • Thanks Purple Vamp - I will try that! My budget is so tight that every penny counts!

Still, I had gone to Mr T to buy picnic as I was going out for a woodland walk with DS and a friend, I knew we'd have lunch out if I didn't plan ahead, and as it was I fed us all for under £3. I did get seduced by the wine offers when I was there, but in my defense that is for a night in with another friend (cheaper than a night out!) and I got 100 extra points too, so I feel ok about it.

Made lemon sorbet tonight and it is looking great, I hope this will satisfy DD's cravings - and for approx 30p for a pint tub!

NSD for me, DP has been away so making him get himself a takeaway on his way back or something as I am sick of cooking late when he's away for the day, I used defrost something he could reheat then he'd leave it and I'd be angry because he'd left it, other times he'd have me cooking at 10pm etc. As he's buying it, it doesn't go on my spends :D
One day I might be more organised...........
