Windows wont load and pc closes down after taking it to shop

You can get an adaptor for the heatsink to increase the size of the fan, I had one on my old pc going from 60mm to 80mm.
The temps displayed still seem somewhat high should be around 45 degrees at idle
If it goes past 60 degrees it tends to make the system unstable, maybe that is the cause of the blue screens you are getting.
The blue screen ypu are getting is normally a hardware fault (drivers). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death
You could try the following http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 to scan for any errors on your hard disk, this would be a good start.
the blue screens are not happening much now but i know the prob has to be solved. i did do hardrive tests on both c and d drives i didnt get any results they just went through the process and i wasnt told that there was any problems on themThanx

Thanx for those blue screen links I'm gioing to check them out. I'm now back online with the xp comp but the blue screens do happen after so long so I wont be using it for long.
The problem with getting online was because the guy had got rid of zonealarm and re-enabled windows firewall without telling me so the second I started installing zonealarm it just did something. It really messed things up and took some messing about to get it back on.
The fan readings are usually starting at 51 and rising to about 55 but they may even rise higher I don't know but thats just how long I've left it watching the bios for about 5 - 10 mins. My daughter was talking about asking a computer friend of hers but I am not going back to the shop. On top of everything else I still cant believe they removed quite a lot of my programs and some were paid for not free. I just hope they havent messed with any settings as it took me a long time getting those right on here.
Thankyou to everyone for your help I really do appreciate it.
By the way would I be able to see if the fan has an adapter on it easily? I haven't taken the side off since it came back this second time but do you think I should have a look?
Also, why don't I get an error report when I do checkdisk from my computer?Thanx

I'm going to try and back things up, never done it before but I'll try will it save my settings on firefox, internet explorer and opera and everything else as I wont remember them?
Blu screens and windows today say:
within a minute of first starting up today blue screen said something to do with 'page fault in monpage' only had this once
I then started in safe mode to checkdisc c drive it said in a little box
the instruction at 0x7c911bf4 reference memory could not be written 0x00000000 click ok or cancel to debug i clicked cancel it seemed to continue diskcheck for few seconds but then another window saying 'the exception in unknown software exception (0xc0000409) occurred in application at location 0x59a7295d
blue screens last night said:
stop: 0x00000000d1 (0x00000000,0x00000002,0x00000000, 0xecf4255f)
vs (something) sys - address ECF4255F base at ECEFD000, datestamp 47dal082
I've also got one a few times last night saying
Driver IRQL not less or equal
I cant rem now if this goes with any of the ones above
I am using it now though to get on hereThanx

Stop 0x000000D1 or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
The Stop 0xD1 messages indicates that the system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. Drivers that have used improper addresses typically cause this error.
Possible Resolutions:
• Stop 0xD1 messages can occur after installing faulty drivers or system services. If a driver is listed by name, disable, remove, or roll back that driver to confirm that this resolves the error. If so, contact the manufacturer about a possible update. Using updated software is especially important for backup programs, multimedia applications, antivirus scanners, DVD playback, and CD mastering tools.0 -
The best thing I can suggest is you back up all the data you need and install a fresh copy of windows on it, its always good to start afresh with windows now and then.
Did you get a restore CD with your PC when you got it?0 -
You could try Speedfan to see what temperatures you are getting, it runs in windows so a little better than watching the BIOS.

I took the side off just to look what fan was on now seeing as he said he had changed it to a bigger fan and it just looks exactly the same, same name and size. Even though I'm not going to take it back to that shop I rang to ask if he had got me muddled with a different customer as it looked the same, the man was on a home visit but the lad that answered said that it might look the same but it would be bigger as in faster fan to cool the air quicker but he took my number and said he would get the boss to call me when he got in.
I have rang a shop round the corner from me to ask if they do repairs and they do. They asked what was wrong so I told them what had happened briefly, but told him I did not want to return it to that shop. He asked where I had taken it before. When I told him the name he said 'say no more' I said why, had he heard much about that shop to which he said well I have taken on a few charities in that area lets put it that way.
I'm going to save some stuff from it just in case before taking it in. Only thing is this shop is very expensive so I'm a bit concerned about what it will end up costing thats why I avoided it in the first place to be honest.
How do I save my settings in opera, explorer and firefox in case I lose it all? I can save files and things but I don't know about the rest. Also I don't have the set up disk as it was given to us but I do have some unopened xp discs that came with laptops. I also dont have the software that goes with the dvd recorder player so I'd lose that wouldnt I?
I have a separate hardrive that I could save stuff to if nec thats about 100 or 200gbThanx

Maybe they are expensive and the others cheap for a reason.
How much is expensive?
Will they give you a fixed price once they have seen it?
I would say £40 an hour would be fair but £60 a bit steep.
Having said that, I do it for free but I am not a business.
As for saving settings ect, I know what I would do.
Make an image of the drive with Norton ghost to the spare drive you have.
My system makes a full backup on the 1st of the month then incremetals every other day.0
