Circa 510 BC Pythagoras announces his theorem, 'In any right angled triangle the square on the hypoteneuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides'.
This became known as the Pythagoras Theorem.
1921 Albert E. Einstein publishes his 'Theory of Relativity'
This became known as, 'Einsteins Theory of Relativity'.
2008 npower re-define time, ' A year is a 'tariff year' that begins from the introduction of any changed charges. When npower change the way customers are charged a new tariff year commences from the date it changed.'

I am not techie but would have thought an attack would have to crash the whole site. Is it possible just to crash a thread? Maybe it is just a glich in the MSE system and each visit is counting a 100 intead of 1. I don't care how popular this thread is there is no way it is receiving around 3000 hits in 12 hours and only reciving 9 posts, most of which are mine wondering why we are getting so many hits and no posts lol.
I wondered if it was a glitch as well so took a screen grab of the first page of the Gas & Electricity Board this afternoon. Have just checked 7 threads against the views showing now and they have received something like 50-70 views.
Now on 68863 views :eek:0 -
69227  Any whistleblower care to divulge if a link to this thread has been placed on npower's intranet?
I confess to knowing very little about techie issues like this, but are these thread views only counted when a unique viewer (i.e. someone who's IP address hasn't accessed the thread previously) counted or is it just a straight counter of ALL people who are clicking on the thread title, first timer or previous visitor alike?

Does anyone know about SOL v6? This was posted on the thread I started re the Ofgem decision. All my Bills are: (underscores added to keep the tabulation correct)

I get these figures
Bill No.
1. 1693 Tier 1
2. 871
3. 529
4. 905
5. 479
6. 1057
7. 1202
8. 1438
9. 1710
Above calculated using all three weighting profiles, pre May 2007, May-Oct 2007, and Nov 2007 onwards.
Bill 7 matches exactly the current weighting (since Nov. 2007)
Bill 8 might be a typo error, if so that would match too.
I can't reconcile the others. Some are close to the pre May 2007 weighting but not close enough.
Did the Primary Block of 4572kWh apply to SOL tariffs. What were the changes made if any, terms and conditions etc. Need info.
Hopefully the OP will come to this thread with more info.
I have only dealt with standard tariffs so not au fait with the non standard ones. But hey, why should npower just pick on standard tariffs to overcharge when they have loads of others to plunder as well?0 -
Ok at the request of DirectDebacle I have copied this over from another thread.
EDIT: Just noticed DD has posted above me with my details. And he is correct about the typo. Smart man. I have changed it below
I appear to have been overcharged, but I don't know how, and by how much. Can anyone shed a light.
I was with Npower from 2nd Dec 2006 until 2nd April 2008
I believe I was on NPOWER's "Sign On-Line 6" tarrif, throughout this time. It isn't explicit on the bill until they changed the format in Dec2007, but the rates did not change before this, and I have no recollection of changing it myself.
I have retained all my bills, and crucially I DON'T see a reduction in my tier 2 rate in May 2007 as noted above
My rates were 3.639p and 2.047p from dec 2006 until 4th Jan 2008, when they changed to 5.024 and 2.302
During the entire period I was charged 7927 kwh at the higher rate. Splitting it to look at one year, from 02/04/2007 to 02/04/2008 I was charged 5590 at the higher rate.
So it looks like I have been overcharged.
However I cannot for the life of me work out by how much.

NPOWER states that their sign online 8 tariff does not sculpt (no mention of sign online 6), but, as can be seen from the last column (calculated tier 1 units per day) of my table, there definitely does appear to have been some sculpting going on.
But it does not match the profile on Npowers website
e.g. 4.3 units per day during June, July, August is more than the sculpted max of 46 units per month.
But conversely 29 units per day in Dec 2007 is more than the even distribution of 4572 over the year.
Can anyone else make sense of all this?0 -
From 28/2/07-22/2/08 (almost a year) high rates charged on the bills come to 5599, 1027Wh over 4572kWh, if SOL v6 was subject to the 4572kWh per annum. I am not 100% sure it was.0

This is mainly guesswork. I suspect that you have been charged a High and Low 2 tier rate using a weighting profile very close to that used on the standard tariff pre May 2007 and post October 07 (with the exception of your last bill which is beyond me at the moment).
For standard tariff users the bulk of the overcharging occurred between May-Oct 2007. This is the period your bill did not reflect the price change and change in the weighting percentages.
Probably because you were on a SOL (non standard) tariff these changes were not applied. However as you point out you were nevetheless charged more than the 4572 per annum. The exact amount cannot be calculated accurately because I do not know the precise percentages applied to the SOl 6. This is most noticeable on your last bill, which is way under the amount of high units you would have been charged with the current standard tariff weighting.
To calculte the £s you have been overcharged in a year.Calculate the amount of units overcharged (1027 for example) at the price for tier 1 and tier 2. The overcharge is the difference plus VAT @5%.
Usually the overcharged units will appear towards at the end of the year, around the end of December is when the 4572 is reached. Therefore use the price applicable at that time. I used the price after 4th January (when it was increased) for my claim.0 -

I would say it isn't a straight counter as I have logged in and out a few times now when the views stood at 69,652 and the number of views is still showing 69,6520
