I, too, echo what others have said. The Provident man was definitely out of order and needs to be reported.

Don't worry guys, I have written a letter to the head office, and shall post it this morning. (I thought a letter seemed more official than a phone call) I was incredibly silly with money but I refuse to let a dirty old man make me feel worse. CCCS told me that as of seeing him yesterday I shouldn't have to deal with him again, even if he comes knocking (which I suspect he will). He might wear a smart suit and tie but he seems nothing more than a thug!

Thanks for your help everyone x

I'm with everyone else here - appalled at the comment the provident bloke made. I really would complain if I were you, it may be the case that he's already had some and will get the chop. What a scumbag.

Remember, that all you do is owe a bit of money, you're not a murderer, old folk batterer, rapist, child molester, etc. so chin up and toughen up. Next time anyone demeans you like that, give em a mouthful and let them know you're better than they are.

    Good luck :)

Good on you, Mrs Lady. There are some horrible individuals out there and it needs to be stamped out. You have enough on your plate without some letch like him!!!
Are you going to start paying it through your CCCS? If not it might be worth looking into a direct payment to Provident thus avoiding him coming to the door altogether.

When a 3rd party DMP company contact Provident Head Office the debt is called back from the local office and sent to Head Office who then 2 months later send the debt to CKEdrupt Solictors who collect the payments.
Hopefully by next Monday the debt will have been called back and he won't call. He might still call and say that you should have told him before and he would of reduced your payments - they say this all the time as it is their commission which they are losing.

If the system works as Eager-Elephant says, then he won't have to call at the house again, although as these people earn more with commission, then I think he will be angry that he has lost out and may be back. CCCS have advised me that if he should come calling and ask for a few pounds or anything, then to refuse as it will jeapordise my DMP, and if he still calls then to not answer the door.

If he comes back and won't go away, then call the police, and tell him you are doing so. Say you are being threatened by a thug and you are alone in the house with 3 small children. He should go by the time you have threatened to call them:D

    Wow....you are awesome. action-smiley-033.gif

You have done so much the last few days it is little wonder you are feeling a little kn*cked.

I am new to the board and so could offer little help, sorry. I just wanted to say a huge congrats for sorting not only your finances but more importantly your relationship with your partner and putting that grubby little provy man in his place - I reeeeeeaaaally hope he loses his job - he darn well should do!!! How dare he try to take advantage of somebody when they feel vulnerable!!!

You and your partner will be closer on a whole new level and THAT Mrs Lady you just can't buy at any price.
:T Well done to you and him - I agree he is partly to blame so deserves part of the credit for getting on track too.:T

They are great here aren't they? I've just joined the April challenge for the very first time and spent nothing all morning :cheesy:

Have some free fun tonight ;)

    Good luck

    Hi mrs-lady,

Scumbags like your debt collector often have a bit of "form". As you know his full name have you tried seeing if your local newspaper has a searchable archive? You may find that he's also famous for some extra-curricular activities. You can then pop a copy of the article in with your letter as additional evidence as to why you don't want him to come calling..

Edit: sorry, missed the bit where you said you had already posted the letter. DOH!!!!! Still worth checking though.
