I've been reading some of the posts regarding this scam. Has anyone sent the information to BBC's Watchdog programme? I'm sure they'd like to get their teeth into this one0

Cant believe I've been done as well! Was in run up to Christmas so just slipped in with all my other purchases. Think it may have been Photobox. When I find out who had it on their site I will put a rocket of an email to them.
Will phone these crooks on monday to sort cancellation and refund. How on earth can they be allowed access to card details and continuous debits on the basis of a button that says yes (even though I dont remember pressing one?)?Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Seems my scam was through my dh (bless him!) and a company called CC NOW. They seems to be agents that take payments on behalf of companies. Be very CAREFUL, have no idea what he bought or where from but he buys very little from the internet, may have been a TV auction site.
The customer services operator was extremely unhelpful, stroppy and basically in a fantasy land in the respect that she believed what she was saying! Supposed to be cancelling and emailing my dh with regards to refund but get the feeling it wont be that simple. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Many of us have tried the Watchdog route, but they are about as useful as Trading Standards on the issue, whereas its STILL not enough customers complaining to make it worthwhile.
I'm trying also. Surely there must be 1000's with the same problem? Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

A couple of people have phoned in this morning to the BBC Three Counties consumer programme with the same problem. Although no names were mentioned it does sounds like it's EasyJet and Shopper Discounts & Rewards. Hopefully the radio station will now get onto the case and try and get this thing stopped. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Apparently dh was done through an ebay purchase. Seems the seller uses CC Now for payments. DH swears blind he clicked no boxes and received no email...Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

For me the pertinent point about this problem is this - no one on this forum has actually entered their credit or debit card details on the Shopper Discount and Rewards site. Our details are being passed on by a route that I would never have imagined was legal.
There are only 2 ways that our details could be passed on -
1) By the original company that we purchased from passing on our financial details to Shopper Discounts presumably for some sort of financial reward.
2) Shopper Discounts somehow snooping on the financial transaction.
Somehow a very low level of consent is required to start up the monthly payment - I did it by entering my e-mail address twice, others seem to have done it by pressing Yes twice. In all cases the assumption is made by us - "I have not put in my financial details so all I am signing up for is a one off discount should I purchase from the referring site again"
If this is legal (and I assume it is) then this is clearly wrong and we should try and find out who to speak to to try and get legislation improved to close this loophole.0 -
Having check my credit card statement last night (please make sre you check them), I found a £10 payment to Shoppers Discount. I didn't knowingly sign up to them and I have cancelled it and will hopefully get my money back. I got `conned' when booking with Expedia who claim no responsibility whatsoever, so please add Expedia to your list of shameful companies.0
