    Morning :hello:

mioliere - I recently took my work keyboard to bits. Took it home, popped off all the keys (levered them off with the blade of a blunt knife), cleaned the keyboard bed with an old toothbrush dipped in a Stardrops and water solution, then got some damp kitchen roll and wiped each key before I popped them on again. It only took about an hour in total. There is also a technique for washing keyboards in the dishwasher (which involves removing the keys, and sealing the connective bits inside a plastic bag before you start). You'll find it if you google. Sorry to state the bleedin' obvious, but it's important to take a picture of your keyboard (or download a diagram of a standard keyboard layout) before you start, so you know where the keys all go when you put them back!

Must be off and do some work. I'm off to an Aqua Aerobics class at lunchtime :j

    Rzl xx

RZL - thanks for the advice re the keyboard - mine definitely needs a deep clean!

  • PP would they have situated the sink low, so you don't struggle to reach it from your wheelchair? I'm sure they'd be willing to make it higher if it's at too low a level.

I dont use the wheelchair indoors ATM, just my sticks.

One more thing from me on that subject, jet77 - the better paid job is a half hour commute each way - well, to be honest, that's a very reasonable commute. I've got a half-hour commute too (45mins if I walk), and it is no trouble. Admittedly I live and work in London, where a commute of 1hr+ each way is considered perfectly reasonable, but even so, it really doesn't feel like it takes a chunk out of my day. It did when I lived an hour away.

Admittedly I was quite envious of the colleague who lived two doors down from the office when she got a job here (she lived in a flat in the building where they filmed "This Life"!) but for a difference of £3k and better opportunities, half an hour each way wouldn't put me off in the slightest.

  • Morning all :j

Went to work yesterday, if you can call it that, spent most of the time drinking coffee and chatting to the lady who is training me up :D only 2 more training days then im going solo, which will be really good, can't wait to get stuck in on my own time and not have anyone to answer too or have looking over shoulder. Though the ladie who are training me up are really nice, it doesn't beat working on my own and getting on with things my own way, I work so much better on my own.

I didnt have a gd night sleep either, was sat reading my book in bed, and heard rustling in the bin next to my bed, looked over to find a massive spider crawling out  Jumped out of the bed and called OH to come and dispose of it. But couldn't go to sleep then knowing it had been so close to my bed and that there could be some more in the room. Took me ages to drop off, coz I couldn't stop thinking about it

Won my first competition yesterday!! only a hair colouring kit from now magazine, but still a win!! They emailed to let me know and requested a photo to put on their winners page on the website  Im not a one for taking pics of myself, usually the one running away from the camera, so having a job trying to find a decent photo of myself :o

Need to do some baking this morn, brought a massive crate of strawberries, and need to find some use for them, so going to make jam, muffins, a flan and jelly with them this morn. Also need to do some scones and a banana cake.

Dinner today is HM meatballs and spaghetti.

All for now, hugs to all

my DD very helpfully spilt a glass of squash over my keyboard on sunday and it went completly to pot, it was typing random letters regardless of what you pressed:mad: . DH disconnected it took the back off and carefully dried the circuits with papper then gave the keyboard a good scrub with a nail brush (we didnt take the keys out) it spent a couple of hours in the airing cupboard and got finished off with a hair dryer on low heat, he put it all back together and it works perfectly now:T

smokey and family sending you thoughts and prayers in the hope they help you through the next couple of days.

kids have started to surface so im off to do breakfasts
