OS Daily Wednesday 26th March

Morning all, back in a moment. Just gone to get the sticky.........

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 26th March. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone. I feel a bit cheeky starting this thread as i dont visit as often as i should, but i guess someone has to start it.
I went to bed at around 11.30 but was up again at 1.30 due to fairly bad backache. I have took some painkillers but cant sleep and thank god for tv and internet.I dont even know for sure how i injured it.My bed has been dodgy for some time and i wonder if its that?
Thanks to the shabby chic thread i am obsessed with looking for bargains on that theme and am browsing ebay at the moment for anything that might be going unnoticed.Very unlikely as shabby chic seems to be very popular nowadays.Today i hope i can crawl around to get some tidying up done. I need to try and catch up with the overflowing washing basket too. Haven`t a clue what i will be doing for dinner. Thats seems a long way away. Hope everyone wakes feeling refreshed and has a good day.

Morning ELAINE and PIPKIN - I hope both of you get some relief from your back pain and cramp. ELAINE - it could well be your bed that is causing the problem. As they say, you spend about a third of your life in bed so it's an important piece of furniture.

As for insomnia, I used to find it took me ages to get to sleep, no matter how tired I was but, since I started drinking Redbush tea in the evenings and not my usual strong black coffee, I find I generally go straight to sleep but wake up early, between 3 and 4 o'clock. I prefer it that way, though, because at least I manage a 4/5 hour block of solid sleep. Getting up early gives me more time on here!

Well, I babysat last night and didn't hear a peep out of DGS and DGD so was able to get on and finish a crocheted square. When I got back in I logged on and really enjoyed the rest of yesterday's thread! Martyn's probably got a queue of freezing cold but hormonally charged women outside his motorhome!

Today's plan is to finally finish my spare/craft room and have a play with my sewing machine, which I have not used since I bought it three years ago, get some more ironing done, visit the gym and collect DGS from school this afternoon. Dinner is fish and chips - not from the chippie, though. I bought some haddock which looks really nice. I shall do that with some salad.

Well, can't think of much to say, which is highly unusual for me even at this hour of the morning, so will call back later.

Well, I've put the WM on, emptied all the bins and put the chicken in a tandoori mix to marinate.

At the animal session yesterday, we saw some skin shredding, and the handler explaines to the children that 70% of our dust was human skin  so I've also gone round with the duster :rotfl:

I knew dust contained skin flakes, but seeing your children give you that eurgh look kind of spurs you into making an effort :D

Thankfully, it wasn't only my DD's who turned to their parents at that time :o

    Morning.

I am up early too. Got plenty of sleep, but tend to wake up with the dawn. It gets really hard in the summer when the sun is up at 4am. Still I have several things to do before work and some e-mails to write. I don't do much internet in the evening so this suits me fine.
Looks like it's wet and cold out there again. Yesterday was nice, but I missed most of it by being in the office.
Plenty to do today, along with kid's eye test and another wanting a lift to stay with her friend 30 miles away...
    I can't see much R & R for today.
Well folks, have a nice day...

Good Morning Elaine, Pipkin, Mioliere and N9eav - and all yet to post.Still have DS and family here, so little in the way of HW being attempted. Have mislaid my car and house keys (together on one ring). Hope I didn't drop them at the farm on Monday. Probably somewhee in the house, but beginning to feel panicky! DGS very grumpy whenI came in from work last evening so didn't see much of her! (She's almost 17mths old). School is manic as ever, with staff absence too so I'm teaching for most of this week. Roll on the w/e and the two weeks break. Hope you all have a good day - and if you see my keys, give me a shout!!!

Morning Chums , I'm up and about this morning early as I'm going to try and sort out some genealogy bumph in my spare room.
Talking about dust ,my DD had an extension built last year to the side of her house and it's used as a sitting room. She can dust it every two hours and the dust still seems to return.I have never seen a room like it . We have tried everything we can think of but can't understand where all this dust is coming from.
We're going to B&Q this morning as she wants to get a new rug for the sitting room.I have my 'crinkly card' so we will get 10% off. Then I may just pop into Mr t's and get a few bits. Not a lot as I am eating from my freezer this week.
<<<Hugs to those in need>> and a big :D to the rest of you.
Craft day went well and one of the ladies brought in some home made Blackberry & Raspberry muffins as it was her birthday and they were delish.
I feel like I may make some rock cakes this afternoon as my cake tin is a bit bare and I want to use up some stuff from the store cupboard. I am really OS ing like mad this week
Might even try making some of twinks HobNobs as well
    Have a wonderful day peeps

I also babysat last night, DGS went to bed about 7:30, poor DGD had colic & so slept & squalled intermitantly (sp) til 1:30 when DD & DSIL got home. Still it was worth it, DSIL's band got through to the next round. Which means I'll babysit again for the next round.
Big Hugs to Smokey & JackieO.
Hugs to anyone else in need. I hope Benthosboy has recovered from all the OS hussies throwing themselves at him.
Have a good day one & all.

    Morning all

    Hugs to Smokey and family

Hugs to anyone else who wants one. I appreciate the insomnia, I go through weeks of it especially when I'm studying. N9eav I'm very much the same as you, as soon as it's light I'm awake. Have a south facing bedroom and blackout linings but it still makes sleeping in the summer and on nights a challenge.

Have been up since 5.30 as I wanted to download some articles from the internet. Have very foolishly volunteered to help out on a school trip today. If it's anything like the last time I shall need a stiff drink when I get home

Shall leave OH a list of jobs to do, I know it sounds awful but if I don't I shall come home to a pigsty.

Off to put some beef stew in the SC.

    Have a good day all

I got up early this morning to finish making some props for a school play, WM is on it's 2cnd load and I am just having a quick nosey on here before waking the children up for school.
I'm going to a parent's participation meeting at the school this morning and then have to wake up DH so he can go to work.
I hope everyone has a good day

  • Morning all (including fellow insomniacs).

It's amazing how many people suffer! I reached a point where I don't lay there worrying that I'm not sleeping, just put some music on very quietly & lay in bed with my eyes shut. I figure if I go back to sleep then great, and if I don't, at least I'm still resting. But always up early. Are blackout linings good - do they make the room really dark? Was thinking about making some new thicker curtains for my room when I'm off in a couple of weeks.

(((Hugs))))) to all that need them, and also sympathy to fellow students/essay writers too..... Not too much longer till the summer holidays?!

Still smiling at the thought of Martyn & all those women fighting over him - hope he's not traumatised today, lol!

Have a good day everyone, better peer into freezer & see what dinner could be, before the day runs away with me. Going to work in a bit & will wait with eager anticipation to see how the thread has gone by the time I get home again!
