So who else sniffs the washing as they bring it in from the line - i didn't even know I was doing it till i looked up one day and the girls were in hysterics watching me.
I do too.. unashamedly!! I love sniffing fresh clean line dried sheets too.
crispy line dried towels.. exfoliate and dry oneself at the same time!!
The children telling me they love me or coming for a hug just because they want one!
Milky kisses
When the children ask for seconds.. means I've done something right!
The children singing, just because they are happy
fresh paint!
Clean kitchen
JackieO.. I am really looking forward to being a grandma.. I think being a grandparent is your reward for bringing up your own children. You are very lucky! My oldest son is only 16 so a few years off for us I hope (though I was less than a year older than him when he was born!!) I am also looking forward to being an auntie..Sadly my sister and BIL aren't having much luck and are waiting for a hospital appointment, but when my niec/nephew arrives it will have more hand knitted garments than any baby in history!
A decent cuppa... yum!
Going out for dinner with my mother.. and especially when my sister(s) come too... I love the talking we do, I miss us all being together all the time.
People who buy my stuff on ebay.. every penny helps
Paying off a bill!!! I paid 3 things off this month that I will never have to pay again.. that is so satisfying!
The silence once the children are all tucked up in bed fast asleep.. and tonight I am especially glad to see the back of DD3 she has done nothing but whinge and wail all day!!!
Full cupboards
Fresh bread
HM cake!.. I don't eat it, I just like to look at it!!
An empty wash basket

- Getting up early and putting the washing out in my dressing gown;
- Sitting down to brekkie of a pot of tea, and homemade bread with butter and marmalade;
- Opening my freezer and seeing all the neatly labelled tubs;
- Realising I can still bake lovely cakes after all these years;
- Opening the front door after work and smelling the heavenly crockpot;
- Realising the high point of my exciting life is wandering round a garden centre with DH and not caring!0 -
Oh what a lovely thread.
I think yesterday encapsulated OS satisfaction for me. It was quite warm and sunny here, we were all up betimes and the table was clear and the DW on double-quick because DS1 (6) has just discovered chess and wanted to play right after breakfast, before I was awake enough to beat him (and it was jolly close, too). I also did a puzzle with DD (3) and help DS2 (5) write his thank you letters. We flung all the windows open and let the house air properly for the first time this year.
There isn't washing done on Sunday here (it's My Day Off) unless something's gone wrong with the system, so I didn't get to see anything on the line (which I love), but I did get to zip through the school-shirts-and-trousers ironing with lovely lavendar water. I love the way the shirts look hung on the rail before I put them away.
We took the children outside and did some garden bits and bobs - planted a few seeds, got the gooseberry bush in a bit late, raked the bit we're going to sow grass seed in - and the children got to sit in the mud and scrat about for hours. Just how childhood should be.
Lunch was HM bread, ham, HM pickled things and salad. In a few months it will be home grown salad too.
Later, we went out to buy a few herbs for the herb bed under the kitchen window. I will be able to smell the lavender as I wash up (and my lavender water costs will come down!)
It was thoroughly perfect and shows all the things I love about being OS. It's a bit embarrassing sometimes - I have a degree, a doctorate and another professional qualification, but I'd still rather be at home with the littlies and OSing it. Oh, and today the children all have clean sheets and everything smells lovely.0 -

Isn't it lovely that really we're all so simple at heart ! The world could learn a lot from us and it would be a much happier place (IMHO!!).0

I`d love to be your neighbours no need for a tv by the sounds of it!! :rotfl:

All the mentions of OS activities with kids reminded me of this post from No Impact Man (who spent a year living as low-impact as he could - no fridge, etc) about people asking how he entertains his 3yo without a TV...

I love the simple things in life too,trouble is no one else I know seems to feel the same.I love to see my washing blowing in the breeze and bake my own goodies.Having a clean comfortable home with plenty of food tucked away.No amount of money can give you the satisfaction of seeing someone you love tuck in to a meal and enjoy food you've cooked from scratch.I know my family and friends think me a bit eccentric but the simpler the better for me.0
