Oh I'm so pleased I'm not the only one who loves watching washing blowing in the breeze and the lovely smell of line dried washing (especially sheets!). OH thinks I'm mad as I rush out to put washing on the line at the slightest hint of dry weather (and then rush back out again to take it all in when it starts pouring with rain!). But I don't care, makes me happy (I'm so easily pleased!!).0

Isn't it nice to know there are folk like oneself still around out there.i watch the t.v. and sit and people watch sometimes at my local shopping centre and it seems that so many folk forget the simple things in life I have read through this thread and I only wish that some of the stressed out, busy,grumpy-looking folk that I see could just stop and take a minute to smell the flowers or see their children and the wonderful little human beings that they are (not all the time I agree).Yesterday afternoon I spent with my youngest DD and she has five of these little people. One of them Jack (8) I helped with his homework ,another Ben (12)wanted to show me a mask he had made for school .Katie (15) wanted me to see what she was going to wear to a wedding in a few weeks time .Henry(6) wanted me to do a little spelling bee with him as he is so proud that he is learning to spell and read.
The baby Mikey was just pleased to give me a big cuddle and sit on my lap. So much love given without wanting anything in return, only my time ,as the advert says priceless.

I too love having my clothes line dried - we don't have a drier.
Making bread, cakes, jams, pickles, flavoured vodkas, limoncello etc at home make me feel great and give me a real sense of satisfaction.
I love finding things in the back of the fridge that are a day of there use by date and finding a use for them before they turn green.Anyone fancy buying my degree? It will only cost you £18k.

Oh dear
Being somewhat emotionally delicate atm, that's just tipped me over the edge, yet again, and it's so nice that I just can't help sheding a few tears. And from a personal point of view, you'll never know just your words mean to me.
Thanks for that.

The first thing dgs3 says when I open the door to him is a rather hopeful "nice cake nana?" - nine times out of ten there is.I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -

Lovely thread, thank you all! Being a DFW I learned the hard way that shopping cant make you happy and now appeciate the value of simple pleasures! My faves are eating my bread, toasted n a sunday morning with a good book & real coffee!, cooking from scratch, making a meal that others love, hugs from my goddaughters, making presents (just gave my mum a tapestry & she cried - see my DFW diary for it!), selling jam & marmalade, learning new things (like merangues!) and enjoying them, seeing my debts go down, the love of family and friends, a good book, finding a bargain and for sheer bliss changing the sheets, having a bath & doing the works hair, face pack & painting toes) before sliding into crisp clean sheets with clean pj's...heaven!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Oh I definitely think its the simple pleasures that are the best
My favourites are a warm sunny day with all the doors and windows open and a gentle breeze blowing through the house and the sound of my 4 children playing happily in the garden. They dont need me to sort out some perceived injustice and theres just me in the Kitchen to potter and make tea in peace
That first smile of a morning that my ys gives me as he wakes in his cot which is next to my bed
The surge of pride after a successful parents evening where the teachers do nothing but gush praise for my children
