Old style satisfaction

This morning whilst hanging out my washing, it made me think how satisfying it is to get my washing hung up out in the fresh breeze on a sunny day, not only does it save me money not having to use the tumble dryer but also my clothes smell sooo fresh :D

I find with alot of things I do O/S give me great sense of satisfaction, which in turn makes me feel great about what im doing and motivates me to do it more.

Just wondered if others felt like this, and what main things give you that Old style satisfaction!

Some of my main ones...

Hanging out the washing on a breezy sunny day
Cooking things from scratch and watching my family tucking into them and enjoying eating them
Beating my grocery challenge budget each month

What are yours? :D

I would have to say all of the above!!:D ....I love to learn new things when cooking and am so pleased with myself when I get it right. I have just taken out some cupboards in my kitchen and made the worktop into a breakfast bar...:T they have been driving me potty since we moved into the house as they split the kitchen in 2 . Being able to make something useful is always rewarding. Dh was rolling his eyes when I started but is quite impressed with my efforts:rolleyes: :D

I would say the above as well. I don't have a dryer. Don't need it. ;)

Also making things with my hands. Last week I found some souvenior t-towels I had so made a rag bag to hang in the laundry with one of them. I also have recently been making knitted dishcloths. Get a buzz out of using them too. :D
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

When mine were babies we had terry towelling nappies, loved seeing them blowing dry and soft on the line. When all the house is tidy, I love being in the kitchen cooking for pleasure and from scratch.

I have never owned a tumble dryer and had a dishwasher for a year that I never used .so I suppose washing on the line is good .I also love the smell of baking in my kitchen.
My DD loves the smell of Windolene, it reminds her of me for some reason LOL I love cleaning windows.
I also like coming into my house and seeing all tidy and clean after being away for a few days . My bed is really comfy so I like a nice cuppa in the morning, and looking out at the wind and rain blowing hard and knowing I haven't got to get up and go to work or even go out in it if I don't feel like it, retirement is wonderful .
I get a lot of satifaction having time now that I never had when I was working and rushing about. Just to walk down the garden and smell the flowers ,or to be able to go to the library whenever I want is great.
Picking my youngest grandson up from nursery and seeing his look of delight on his face when he sees me is a tonic in it's self . Small things to a lot of folk, but I treasure everyone of them

Hubby hung the washing out yesterday, we have a rotary line & 2 sockets for it in the garden so it can be moved to a sunny spot. Line drying keeps hubby very fit as he carries the line, fully loaded up & down the garder to ensure the washing gets the maximum sun, yesterday we had some showers so hubby so hubby also carried the washing indoors a couple of times (still on the line) is it any wonder the neighbours don't speak to us, lol.

We bought one of those ceiling-pulley type airers a couple of years ago and popped it up in the kitchen. It's lovely taking off warm clothes that have dried overnight (it's just in front of the wood burning stove ... we have lovely high ceilings in the kitchen).:D The tumble drier hasn't been used since :j

Like icecubequeen I love beating my own grocery challenge budget each month (this week we are living off the storecupboard and freezer stocks to cover the cost of redecorating the kitchen).

I love being able to create my own meals from scratch, being self sufficient with HM wine and having a stock of jams made from 'free food'.

I've never had an electric dishwasher, OH does the job perfectly ;) We have long chats whilst he washes and I dry. When he complains about the amount of dishes I remind him how little the meal cost to make from scratch :D
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D
  • Definitely baking for me - I find it a very therapeutic/relaxing way of an "escape" from a busy/stressful life at the moment, and it's a cheap & easy way of filling up the swarm of locusts masquerading as my children.... And they love it. They also enjoy baking themselves (but not clearing up....).

I can't wait for my summer holidays as I'll have much more time to potter & be domestic goddess-y.

I don't have high ceilings, but I want one of those pulley things - just need to find someone to put it up for me!
