OMG! You poor thing Gemma. Maybe it was that time of the month for her or she hadn't had any for a while.

I hope your OR is a lot better.

It was a shock as other people had told me you are in the minute at most i was in there 7 minutes with her tellin me i will never get a job or be able to have a holiday and im stupid and she doesnt want to grant it as im so young but she did grant it in the end and i came out a bag of nerves. (dont think pregnancy hormones helped)
    .

Hi Gemma ...OMG as well !! This sounds like bullying to me!! What is gained by this kind of treatment?? Did you complain? Any judge is a professional official & should act accordingly at all times ...to call someone `stupid` & say `you`ll never get a job` is well out of order!! Whatever the circumtances everyone should be treated with respect.

  • Brilliant news Frodo - I'm delighted for you.

I completely understand the shall I/shan't I thing. My OH thinks I should as we can make a fresh start tho I'm not so sure. My mum rang this morning to say my auntie has died and I'm sitting here thinking "what's the point in struggling anymore to the point of sleepless nights and being irritable with OH and the kids". I may follow in your footsteps.

Did you go through an advice agency? I don't know whether to choose CA or CCCS for advice? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

    Enjoy your day ......

Hiya TMD from personal exoerience I used cccs they were brilliant..very helpful & non judgemental gave me all the advice & help I needed for free...if you decide BR is the course you want to take one of the judges questions at court is "have you saught professional advice" so better to sort asap

    Hi TMD,

Sorry to hear about your Auntie. Often something happens & you have one of those moments of realisation.

See TF signature for all numbers...I called CCCS today for my 2nd appt & had to book 7th Apr !! as they are so busy. You can do the online thing though on CCCS website.

Well done for deciding to take next step to resolve your situation! Life really is too short!!

I second this :) The CCCS were really good to me!

The judge actually said to me that normally she'd give me one last chance to change my mind but seeing as i'd had advice from CCCS she didn't need to and stamped my petition on that basis!

  • Cheers guys for your replies - majority for CCCS then. I was only considering CAB as there is a small branch in town - only open Mon and Thurs tho to book an appointment and didn't really fancy a "local" seeing me (we live in a small tourist town).

Sorry for the hijack to your post Frodo - I'll go post on a new thread for any other questions I have.

  • Hi TMD.

Thanks for your good wishes. Sorry to hear about your Auntie. Your OH is quite right about making a fresh start, why should you have sleepless nights and be a bit irritable as you put it with your OH and kids.Regarding getting advice,i read a awful lot abt it on these forums, what other people had done,my health was a big issue and was really warned by my GP that something had to give as I may not keep surviving strokes. I also spoke to a few people that had gone bankrupt but I think the thing that made me make my mind up was having 1 of my creditors basically saying to me and I quote....we couldnt care less if you've had a stroke or not we're coming after you......That was the point I decided.

The CCCS are quite good, i did speak to them and they said that going bankrupt would be the best thing for me.Hope this helps in any way, the relief you'll feel is just so good, its even better when your creditors start hasseling you on the phone and you just quote you Br ref number to them, the silence is something to behold.

    Frodo

As for hijacking my thread, its fine honest, you've nothing to be sorry for, please dont give it another thought, its fine.

  • Onwards and upwards Frodo - at least the bank balance will be!

Still mulling my own situation over (and probably will be for a llllloooonnnnngggg time to come as I'm reluctant to do it). Two friends of mine have gone BR, put it behind them and moved on. They said it's the best feeling ever. One has been discharged already and the other one is being discharged next month - only seems like 2 mins since she went BR last year.

I'll get the wedding/holiday in Ireland out of the way next month and then will give it serious consideration. I think I know deep down what has to be done but as someone said on a different thread, I'm programmed to think that going BR is one step away from burglary - in this day and age that thinking is ridiculous but elderly, saving parents bring you up to believe that and it's deep rooted somewhere in my psyche unfortunately!
