Gone BR today

Hello everyone.

After many months of shall I shant I, I decided abt 3 weeks ago to go BR,there was 2 things that made my mind up to do this. 1st thing, i've had 2 strokes in the last 15 months, really scary. The main reason ws abt 4 weeks ago the day after coming home from hospital creditor rang me up,threatning me with this that and the other, I tried to explain that I was just home from hospital after a stroke and the response I got was.....tough,pay us what we owe or we will take you to court, you have 7 days to pay £4800 or we will take you to court.....Charming I thought, my other creditors were not to bad, they moaned and groaned but were ready to give me some time. My best mate was here at the time and saw how upset I was getting, took the phone off me and lets just say he wasnt very polite to the guy, I understand why he was like this, he was just protecting me.

Regarding today, went to the court, the bankruptcy clerk was really nice, handed all money and the forms over, he then told me to go back there tommorow morning at 9.30,to say it's a big relief is a understatement,if anybody would like me to let them know how I get on when I go back tommorow then i'll gladly let you all know, thank you to everyone for all the different posts that helped me find out about all of this.

Best of luck. Can you take that friend with you? Sounds like great support there.

And make sure you come back and tell us about the day. Its important for you to get it off your chest, and important for others who need that encouragement.

    Hi Frodo,

Well done...I admire the fact that you put your health first. How many of us have & still are battling against debt where it is affecting our health so adversely.
Whatever it takes & BR is not the `easy route` by any means but health & wellbeing is the most important thing.

Thankyou for your post this evening, it has helped us, I can almost hear the relief in your tone of writing ...my OH had a heart attack 2 years ago & I now know that was brought on by the stress of debt issues & he can`t manage anymore so BR is the only route...I hope he copes as well as you have.

    BR or dead...its a no-brainer...

By the way....your friend sounds like he is pretty good at getting rid of `nuisence` callers...I could do with a recording & have it as an answer message!!!

    Hi Frodo
good luck for tomorrow and all the best. I know Debt Collection people are trying to get their money back but I cant believe how heartless some of them are. I mean, I can understand a creditor calling and chasing money- but to someone just out of hospital and clearly ill?? Good on your friend for telling this individual where to go.
    All the best.

How all goes well tomorrow. :)

As others have said, once that is over you can concentrate on the more important things in life.
