£20k in bonds, no return for three months and then £500 this morning, however I'm sure the scot at No11 will soon get it back in taxes  I just wish I could go to France and come back in as an immigrant !

This month's return for me (full holding):

    December: £0
    January: £0
    February: £500 + £50
    March £100 + £100
    April £100 + £50 + £50
    May £50

Total after 6 months: £1000 (equivalent to 6.66% per year tax free, 8.3% for a basic rate taxpayer or 11% for a higher rate taxpayer).

I have held the full amount for about 5 years. I have never won more than £100 as a single prize (and that only once) although I did win 5 x £50 one month last year. It's odd how you have won £100 three times in two months when I set it against my experience!!

I've definitely had a run of luck - I nearly cashed them in after those first two months of no prizes at all! Will be interesting to see if the luck continues, but I still don't subscribe to the "cash in and reinvest" theory. Are yours in one 30000 number "block" as mine are?

No. I have a £20K block followed by a £10K block from when the allowance went up. I reckon I win 10 months of the year on average but usually only one or two £50s. I shouldn't complain really. I just like the fact that you always have that bit of hope at the beginning of each month!!

Nice little win, £100 has been my biggest ever win but I mainly just get £50 and many months of £0.

My £1 bond purchased for me in 1961 still hasn't won

Neither has my one and only bond which I won in a raffle (cost me 6d) in 1959.

How do we know whether such old bonds are still actively participating in the current monthly draw?

OK, I am sure NS&I will claim that they are (they would, wouldn't they?) but where's the proof? Even some statistical evidence would be of some small comfort.

Try going to NS & I website and type in the bond number top see if it has won!
