Edit: OK I see this has been addressed above. Looks like the original bonds were AANNNNNN, A is a letter and N is a digit, and newer ones are NAANNNNNN, NNAANNNNNN and NNNAANNNNNN. Presumably they will then go to NNNNAANNNNNN, and ERNIE will have to generate four digits, then two letters, then six digits, and all of the currently issued crop of NNNAANNNNNN Bonds will only be eligible if a zero is the first digit drawn?

I have a bond which starts with three zeros, as listed on the NS&I site. They are not there on the certificate. No doubt that when new bonds are NNNNAANNNNNN they will be listed with four zeros.
Yes when an extra digit is added, all the existing numbers will be extended with an extra zero at the front, and will only have a chance of winning if that first zero comes up. Likewise the new bonds will only have a chance of winning if that first digit comes up 1 (or eventually 2 or higher)
I believe the numbers are generated using 9 counters that continuously count from 0 to 9, and 2 that count from 0 to 25 (converted to A-Z). What they count are quantum events in the latest ERNIE, and thermal events in the earlier ones. The results are the readings form the counters at specific intervals, putting the letters in the appropriate place within the numbers.

For the first time since we put a significant sum neither myself or wife won a single penny. We had been averaging £75 a month in the last year so not a pleasant shock!
Better surprise, they must have not updated everthing when I checked. Wife got "you won" email today and she won 3 x £25 keeping up our average (I still got zilch).
Do you use the prize checker app?

i found out on there that I had won a prize about a week before I got my “you won” email!
  • If you have £50000 of bonds and win again but have reinvest in more bonds if win option ticked, I assume it’s sent to  your nominated account.
If so how long does this take?
    Thank you

It usually takes 4-5 banking days. Longer this month, as we had a couple of holidays and a weekend at the start of the month. Don't fret, you will get your 'win' eventually.

I was in this position last month - 1st month with full £50k : I received my win by cheque. I then updated my records to be paid to nominated account.  April’s not yet credited.
  • Yep not received April's winnings yet, bank holidays.
  • Got it credited to my bank acc today.
So it’s automatically re directed to your nominated bank.

No big prize for me this month - saw one from my county with a very similar holding to me so got a bit excited, then saw they'd had it for much longer than I have! Fingers crossed for a "small" win...

First month with a reasonable sized investment back in the draw for me for a few months so hopeful of something this time. Not on the "big list" though. One lucky person with £1,510 in bonds has scooped £100,000 this month.
And at the other end of the scale, someone in Surrey who invested the full £50k in March has seen a 50% return on investment in their very first draw...
