    £50 win ...1.4%
  • Losing faith in my luck :-(  No wins this month again (no wins since last October with Max holding.
My Mum and step dad have each got max holding, bought over 12 months ago when they each purchased a £50,000 bond in one go.
They have won something every month for 12 months.
I intend giving it one last try next month (January) then if i don't win again for the 3rd consecutive month, I am considering cashing in and buying a £50,000 block  in one go. Okay, I will then miss a whole month but my thoughts are, there just MAY be more chance of winning something as at present, my max holding is composed of about 20+ purchases over the last 2/3 years.

..as above, sometimes it has taken 4 or 5 days for our "winnings" to show.
Last month when I checked on the 2nd we had nothing, checked again around the 4th and we had £150 showing...

Think that if you like but it isn't true - £50K worth of bonds purchased in one block now has exactly the same chance of winning as a random collection of smaller purchases (totalling £50K) made over multiple years....

Thanks but just a thought, judging by the above experience :-)

With a maximum holding you have a 23.5% chance of not winning a prize in any given month, and so a 1.29% chance of three blanks in a row, so not completely outlandish.  However, the key thing to remember is that the draws are completely random, so it's flawed thinking to decide that if you emulate someone else's buying pattern then your luck will be comparable to theirs....  And as you recognise, if you're out of the draw for a month, your odds of drawing a blank in that one will be 100%!

£25 for OH and zero for me. Both max holdings. This is our 3rd draw and OH has won total £175 against my total £50. Obviously he is 3.5 times luckier than me.
  • I love the randomness of winning bonds
these were taken from some this months winners in Daily Mail -Money- Savings &
    Investment section
1m bought  in 10k block bought in June 2020
    100k on a £25 bond bought in 2018
    10k on a £50 bond bought in 2002
