Is there a best time of the month to buy in order to reduce the waiting time for eligibility for the next draw?

Yes - any bonds bought during a month are eligible for the draw at the start of the month after next, i.e. any purchases during August are eligible for the draw at the start of October.  Therefore buy as late as possible in the month....

    According to:

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/premium-bonds/

"In general, you need to hold the bonds for a full month before they're eligible to win. So, buy bonds any time in January and they'll be in the draw from March. So if you're moving money over from other savings, it's best to do it in the last week of the month, as that way you minimise the time the money's not earning interest and also not in a draw for Premium Bonds."

Has anyone on this site ever won or know anyone who has won a big prize on PB?
I think someone posted a while back that they had won a maximum prize, I would link you to the post if I could find it, but I can't perhaps someone else can.

£25 for me this month, the first draw since I topped up my holding from £25 to £6,250. Prize reinvested so it will be eligible for the million in September  ;)
(I see the website was saying "Augustus's draw" rather than August's - has Ernie had some help?)
