Thanks and good luck to you. Out of interest what is the diameter of the zone that is going to reduce my chances of winning? Should I sell my Premium Bonds if somebody 1 mile away wins, half a mile, or is it just next door that I need to worry about?0 -

So it's a bit like a contour map of chance then? As I move around the country my chances change depending on how close I am to a previous winner.0 -
Blimey. £75 mrs O-prayer, and £25 me. both on £30k holdings. Best month yet. Have NSI got a conscience?0

In theory you still have the same chance as you always had, but in practice how many people have won the jackpot in the same street of the same town and live next door to each other. Very improbable.
The probability of you winning in the following month is unchanged regardless of who/what/where previous winners were.
There is a low probability to start with but that is independent of the above variables.0 -

Now you're just being silly aren't you. If you need any further convincing check out this article written by our very own Martin Lewis back in 2010.

This is my final post on the subject. If you want to argue further, you’ll have to pay for another 5 minutes. (Sorry Monty Python).0 -

Yes, I'm being silly but I'm just pointing out the logical consequences of your magical thinking. I know that my chances of winning are totally unaffected by the locality of previous winners. In fact if I win 1 million this month, my chances of winning 1 million next month will be exactly the same as they would have been had I not won. In all cases the chances are very very small but they are always the same.
The article you've linked to has no support for your belief that the locality of previous winners reduces the chances of winning for people who live near them.0 -
£40k 'invested' and no wins. Hardly won anything this year. Can anyone tell me the best place to invest £40k? I have £46k in savings in total, £6k in my current account... I know I'm not exactly being money savvy!0

Like many people on this site, I would recommend starting with reading through the articles on Monevator: http://monevator.com/. There is even one on Premium Bonds: http://monevator.com/are-premium-bonds-a-good-investment/0
