But what if next month I hit the jackpot? You see that’s the problem getting involved with premium bonds. Once you’ve got them there is a real reluctance to cash them back in. It almost becomes dead money unless you win a top price in which case you cash in the lot. After all lightning doesn’t strike twice in the same place.....or does it! DAMN.

You would never know whether you did or not once you sold your PBs. So if you have a better way to grow your money, take it out of PBs.If you feel PBs are the best way, leave your money in.

The chances of winning in any one month are completely independent of whether you have won in any previous month. The idea that there is any relationship between independent events is known as the gamblers fallacy.
  • £25 for me this month on £26,700 holding :)

Surely people must know there are better places to “invest” your cash. It is only the small chance of winning a big prize that keeps punters coming back for more. Nothing wrong with a little gamble each month, especially as it’s only lost interest (not capital) you’re playing with. Just don’t expect to win something every month because you have the max allocation, after all it’s a mere drop in the ocean when compared to the total amount sloshing around out there!
