  • I've never had that big an investment. I think I once had around £3,000 worth.

The most I ever got was £50, but I did get quite a few of those. I don't think I went more than about 6 months without getting something.

I started to run them down, but I might have got a couple of £25s after they came in, and before I cashed in the lot.

I do plan to go back to holding at least a few at some point, and if I had the ready cash and nothing better to do, I'd definitely try holding the maximum investment, just to see what happened.

Having said that, I'm not sure if they are a good idea or not.
I suppose at the end of the day, I want something for nothing, like a lot of people - i.e. I don't quite regard it as saving - and for that reason, I'm prepared to ignore the miniscule chance of winning a big prize, and the fact that I'm losing money with less than inflation rate of "interest" ...

Thanks, yes I'm not sure if they are a good idea or not either. I might give them a go for a year or so as the interest rates are so low on savings accounts & ISA's at the moment. Its just deciding whether I want to give up the guaranteed interest I would receive, with the chance that I might actually win nothing at all on the premium bonds.

It's my 1st month as a premium bond holder......I accept it may not be the best financial decision, but I wanted something to look forward to each month.....

    Just in case!!

    When do winners hear?

All at once or through the month?

    Should I keep looking online?

I know, I know.....I should probably just forget all about it, but I like having the possibility of a win in the pipeline.

Any advice about when to give up hope on the months winnings, from you seasoned experts????

    Many thanks!!

    Thank you!

Cant remember if I registered online, will check.

I bought them in March, so think May draw should be my 1st.

No strange man at my door this morning, so assuming I havent won the £1,000,000 at my 1st attempt :rotfl::D:rotfl:
