I want to buy bonds (I'm already a holder but the bonds were bought for me when I was a baby and so have not done this myself) and for them to go into the Feb draw.

There is no way they will go into the February draw no matter what payment method you use I'm afraid. From the NS&I website ...
When Bonds go into the draw

Your Bonds become eligible to take part in the prize draws once you have held them for a full calendar month following the month you bought them. They then go into every draw until you decide to cash them in, giving you the chance every month to win tax-free prizes.

So even if you did buy some during what little is left of January, they won't go in the draw until March.

...but adding some positive spin, its Feb...which is the shortest month to have to wait...so end of Jan the best time to buy ultimately. :)

  • The "Have I Won" page now has an extra sentence on it ....

"Please allow until the end of the month for the prize to reach you. If you still haven’t received it by then, you’ll need to report it to us."

If you have a Debit Card, it is very quick and easy to buy online.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

So when you buy online does a certificate get sent to you? I'd rather not have something sent to me every time I buy more

    Thanks

At the moment - yes you get a piece of paper with the numbers on, but I'm not too sure what happens with the new on-line registered system - I think I read that they don't send them out in that case.

There is an option to change to paperless, but by default you still receive paper bonds unless you specifically opt out.
  • Thanks for your replies guys, I guess I'd better get on with it then so I don't miss March too! I'll be on the phone tomorrow.

Oh no it isn't. I just tried to buy some more a few minutes ago. Got all the way to debit card verification and then it crashed. I'm now left not knowing if my payment has been accepted or not! This has to be the most pathetic website in the history of the internet!

Erm, I mean NS&I of course, not MSE.

Sometimes the site goes down as do they all (M S E included) but I find it far easier to do it that way.

You can buy up to the last minute, on the last day of the month and still qualify.
