Premium Bond Winner ?

I clicked thanks instead of reply!
If anything by cashing in and re-buying you may well stand a worst chance, because you'll be out of the draw for at least a month.
£100 holding will win rarely, check the PB Calculator on the main part of this site.
According to this you have nearly an 80% chance of winning nothing over 5 years with £100, so you are well on the odds by winning nothing so far!
"Newer" bond numbers come up more frequently, because there are millions of people that have brought bonds "recently" compared with less 30-40 years ago and before.
I would also hazard a guess that more people buy larger blocks than in the past.... ?0 -

I think that'd be a fair assumption too. Years ago people brought some bonds here and there as gifts, £10 here and there etc. Now many people by blocks in thousands.
(PS congrats, you are doing very well on your holding this year!)0 -
Thanks for the replies (and for the 'Thanks' - albeit in error!). I'll leave my £100 where it is to see how long I can go without winning anything.0

Check the probability checker and see what it'll be like in 10 years time. To be honest with £100 your chances are pretty slim, but still stand an equal chance as anyone else with £100, if you had £1000 you'd see the odd win here and there.0 -
30k and nothing for the last two months....
Gutted... Maybe they are saving it for my big payout next month...0 -
I'm a contractor so have a limited company, I tend to put my corporation tax into premium bonds until it needs paying each year, anything I win I keep in them, I tend to win around £200 each year on them.2012 Mortgage Free Wannabe # 69Opening mortgage £126,000 19/05/00Ended 2011 £31,019:j£0.00 07/12/2012 :jNever put socks in a toaster.0

surely premium bonds are now almost worthless investing in with todays rate cut news0

My husband has had a £1 premium bond since they began in 1957. It has never won. I have the full quota and I am so far pleased with my return. It beats the lottery hands down, at least I get my stake back if I don't win.0

Just been thinking the same, however, its somewhat safer there being guaranteed and for the last 11 months, I've accrued a 5.86 return on my holding so cant complain too much. Will see what happens next couple of months and take it from there I think...
What alternatives are there !?Beware Lego Men with Deep pockets...! :cool:0 -
I am in France and will not be back in the UK for a few months.
Will I be able to get premium bonds without having to return?
Tks0
