  • Well good news for a change, another £50, second month in a row.

Had worked out that i would have made £72.60 had i kept the money (£2500) in a savings account or ISA. Therefore £100 in total is a bit of a bonus. Even though i know that the money is probably better invested in an ISA, i just have the fun factor of keeping it in the NS&I. At least with another couple of months before the investment loses money again (assuming that i dont win anything else) i may as well keep it going.

  • My son had £210 worth of PB bought for him 9 years ago. He won £100 in December last year, working out as 4.5% approx pa.

I know someone who has the 30k max holding and regularly wins prizes which average 5% pa.

I've just cashed my son's in (figured we've had our luck on such a small holding) and it's now getting 10% gross for his year in the Halifax regular saver.

most of us here check online, so we know we have won (or not) well before they arrive through the door.

andy , your mum can purchase them for you i believe and they would be yours, i say this as ive had some since i was very young and they are in my name.

£100 or £200 is your decision, and yes you can add to it at any time , when you buy you will get a holders number, yours for life if you wish, you can own up to £30,000 worth.

there are quite a few of us here with maximum holdings.

    good luck

It is your money and you can save it how you desire. However, it is important to emphasize that on average PB's are a shockingly poor means of saving when compared to cash ISA's.

The good MSE approach is that you should fill up your cash ISA before you save anywhere else. The generally accepted consensus is that PB's are really only worthwhile for high rates tax-payers, who have utilised other saving vehicles.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
  • Put a few hundreds pounds into PBs over the last few years and won £50 today (3rd £50 in about 2 years).

  • March PB higher winners must be out, though it isn't yet March, because I saw a news item about 2 1milliom winners on BBC's site.

Big winners are not yet out - http://www.nsandi.com/products/pb/winnerlist.jsp
I would expect them to be out Monday.

I assume you are referring to this article on the BBC. Extremely poor reporting, since they first say PB's have made 206 millionaires, then they say it has made 10 across the UK??? Hardly newsworthy since there are 2 x £1million winners every month?

  • Thank you for explaining, jonvbn. Also, I meant to say non-working day, instead of not yet March. Good luck for Monday.
