Can someone tell me what happens if you win a larger amount and you are already maxed out? Does it show you that you won for example £25k? Or do you need to ring somewhere?
never won more than £275 but just curious
I understand prizes over £5k they write to you to confirm where you want it paid too
Does the prizes over 5k show online as per usual on the normal day of announcement or do those who win 5k or more only find out when they get a letter?

They would be online on the first working day (but that would require the bondholder to match up their holding, purchase date and location to realise that they had won.) Given that, I can't imagine they wouldn't be on the prize checker with the rest.

Probably why they still send Agent Million around - to stop people finding out they've won £1m over the internet.

There was an article on the net somewhere that reveals they actually do the draw sometime in the middle of the month. The bonds drawn are then checked for statistical randomness by some govt department (ONS or similar). If a winning bond is actually sold after the draw but before the month end then every winning bond is shuffled up one spot. So people on a boundary can go from say £50 to £100 and the bond at the top of the reserve list gets shuffled into the £25 winner list. It also gives them longer to research and verify the £1M winners will be notifiable on the 1st (is the address current, will they be on holiday etc.).

I also read that in addition to the above, the jackpot winners will be contacted in advance of the agents visiting, I think one winner was called and it was arranged their visit was at work

What's the point of the visit in this day and age for just £1M? I bet they don't even help them fill in the forms to claim it.

Another £0 for November with a full holding. That's two blank months in a row. Running total for the year now down to £1400 or 2.8% return.

OH managed to bag 2 x £25 on his FH. Overall a disappointing month.

Yes, I think it was first shared on this thread in 2021, but often since then too!

  • So I purchased my first bonds just over a year ago.
The one thing I have noticed is I seem to win more frequently now that I own more bonds., ie from Nov 2024
Each month you can download a spreadsheet of high value winners which includes the purchase date and also the holdings of each winner. This may help you with what you want to achieve.

I will review this next year but like everyone who buys premium Bonds hoping for a big win.
