Yes you definitely can hold PB's if you live abroad. My brother lives in Australia and still has quite a few of them.
Trouble is he has given my address to NS&I and I have this total nightmare that on one first of the month there will be knock at the door and it will be his bond that has won the million!! - how awful would that be?
Does anybody actually win the big prizes? As mentioned on this site, I have never known of anyone getting more than £1,000 - perhaps they don't really exist!!!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
wonder if any of us will win this month, I have not won any of the big ones

To find out if you have been more or less lucky than average:
Divide 2000 by the number of bonds you hold. This gives the number of years that you will wait ON AVERAGE for your first £50 prize.
For higher value prizes instead of 2000 use the value times 40 eg the average waiting time for winning the million with a holding of 10,000 is
40,000,000/10,000 = 4,000 years
Of course you can be lucky and win £1,000,000 with a single bond (you can't actually buy just one) after one month just as you can win the lottery. Or you can be equally unlucky and win nothing with 30,000 bonds. But nearly everyone will be in the middle, with average luck.0 -
I've never won anything more than £50 on any bond, but had a total of £500 on a £30K holding since September, when I was first eligible for the draws. That's not a bad "interest rate" at all, so I hope my £50s will keep rolling. Wouldn't turn down any higher prices, though0

Hi All
I have just checked, on line, and found I have won £50) This is my first ever win and it feels great! I have held £5 worth of bonds for 31 years and never won a penny. I have recently invested a larger amount and win on the first draw. I knew I was going to win this month but had hoped it might have been enough to retire on. Never mind, the better half thinks its going to be next month. Lets hope she is right.

current holding now is £10,200 ... (didnt buy any last month as its xmas soon)0 -
I've had £1000 worth of premium bonds for about a year and in October I got £50 and November another £50. Was hoping for three in a row but nothing for December!0

I have the full holding and have been winning every month for the last 7
months - not all from the latest holdings either....
May - 2 x £50 = £100
June - 3 x £50 = £150
July -1 x £50
August -1 x £500 (yes - five hundred..)
Sep- 1 x £50
Oct - 1 x £50
Nov - 2 x £50
Dec - 2 x £50
I had also had a few other wins in the months prior to that but don't have the records in my acct on the nsandi site anymore as it only shows the last 6 months. I also only had about 12K until I started winning and then bought the other 18K after my August win.
Does this mean that I am more lucky than most?0 -
PS - I also know someone who had £10,000 worth and won the £10,000 prize a couple of years ago, effectively doubling his holding. It was after that that I got into them.0
