Hi Everyone!
I am a bit of a lurker on this board and I seem to remember seeing a thread called "Having a baby Old Style" or similar quite a while back. I have been searching all morning but cannot seem to find it. Did I just imagine it? Does anybody else remember this?
If anyone has any advice on having a baby OS I would appreciate it? I have just found out and the little one is due March 09.:T
Thanks in advance!

Hi again,
I have now read through most of the thread and there is so much useful advice.:T I just know my baby is going to be the most OS ever!! However the thread is a few years old it would be really nice to have an ongoing one with updated advice (although I know much of it is timeless).
Is there anybody else here on the OS board who have just found out you are pregnant? It would be nice if we could support eachother on the way and swap OS tips and Ideas. I know there is a pregancy club thread on one of the other boards but I like it here and I promise to stay on topic (OS).

Hi snufflin,
Congratulations! As you say most of the advice on that thread is timeless, but there is actually a more recent thread so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.
This thread may help too:

Hi ya,
Bit of a lurker on here but I bought all my terrys on Ebay, really cheap, all plastic pants, and clips didn't use pins as I was a bit scared about stabbing baby and me especially in the middle of the night. Anyway the up shot is that baby was completely dry day and night before his 2nd birthday, saving me a small fortune, my mum said its because he didnt like feeling wet....the disposables hold all the wet so baby doesn't feel it.
Also didn't have baby wipes for sticky fingers and faces just keep a damp flannel in a sandwich bag (re used of course) and use that chuck it in the washing machine swap for a new one.
Now we use some of the terrys for cleaning up little accidents and in the washing machine they go. (have kept some for next possible addition not just yet though!!!)
Think thats about it, oh apart from baby eating everything, absolutely everything garlic bread the lot :rotfl:, we ate blended when he started on solids now he still eats everything with us.0 -

H i everyone, and congratulations to all expectant ladies here:) There have been loads of great tips from other people here and I would add that charity shops always have loads of baby clothes for sale very cheaply too. I bought loads of clothes etc for all my six and a good wash in the machine and fabric softener, was all they needed. I also knit some little things too, and bought wipes and creams etc a few each week with the shopping and they soon added up. Friends might also offer somethings as well. Never tried Freecycle as it was a long time ago:). Little ones can live quite happily in sleepsuits for a few weeks I think. They son grow out of clothes, s I feel it is more sensible to put money away for when they will need their first pair of shoes. Hope you all keep very well.xxDo a little kindness every day.;)0

I've posted this before but good news is worth telling more than once.
Here in West Sussex all new mums are entitled to a nappy package worth about £100. Other posters have said their various local authorities/county councils offer nappy packages to try to prevent disposable nappy build up in landfill.
Worth an investigation.0 -
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your replies so far!
I checked with my council this morning and they ahve a £40.00 cashback scheme for reusable nappies so I am going to look in to that.
We are very lucky when it comes to toys/clothes/cot/carseat etc. as many of these items will be provided for free/cheap by OH's Auntie & Uncle as his cousin is now 1 1/2 and is their last one.:T They are so keen to get rid of all the noisy toys they have offered to dump it at our front door in the morning:eek: .
Hope you all have a good day!!
PS. I am finding the morningsickness (eveningsickness in my case)very moneysaving as I am hardly able to eat. I am hoping it will get better.
