the best gift i can rem when i had my first was a couple of packs of nappies, as they go through them so quick, so whenever anyone has a baby i pop a pack or nappies in with thier outfit, it saves them going out!!!:A :j0

If you google 'The Nappy Lady' you will find a web site that sells all kinds of real nappies but also reviews all of them and also has a second hand section where you can pick up a bargain as well as get a good return on them when you have finished with them.
Also bear in mind that most shops are happy to take back gifts without a receipt so that when you get loads of gorgeous presents you can return the ones you don't like or don't need and buy something realy useful instead.
I bought all my maternity clothes on ebay and many of them have a really good resale value.
Good luck!0 -
Just remembered that TK Max is a really good source of baby products if you would prefer new. Especially good for smaller items such a baby monitors, sleeping bags etc... all at considerable discount.0

im hoping not to do the baby monitor thing this time i paid about 70 pounds for the ones i had daughter for...... god knows where theyve gone 4+ years ago so unless someone else in family buy me them im hoping to do without its not as tho you carnt hear your baby cry upstairs if your downstairs unless you live in a mansion but i live in a nice sized 3 bedroom house which is pretty much all open plan from bedrooms down to the sitting roomWe Make A Living By What We Get. Ethel Austin do a baby sleeping bag for a tenner. They're really good for baby stuff. I prefer micro steriliser to steam. Easier to clean, cheaper and generally quicker. Plus they also double up as cold water sterilisers too.£4000 challenge

Hello everybody
This is my 1st post for eons but I've been reading this forum with great interest (baby due August!)
Anyway, I don't know if any of you live near a Lidl but they have specials on baby stuff from Monday 7th April. Examples incl baby sleeping bags for £5.99, a baby carrier for £9.99, sleepsuits and bodysuits etc. They've got lots of "baby" toiletries too. I'll definitely be going to check them out on Monday.
Lets hope we get some good bargains.Bank charges refund £158

If you intend to breastfeed I would recommend googling Claire Byam-cooke who's DVD is highly recommended by many successful breastfeeding mums. As an ex-breastfeeder I can tell you it isn't easy for everyone and isn't something that naturally comes. It's worth learning how to do it properly as unfortunately there isn't much support on the nhs. Find out if your area has a local breastfeeding counsellor and arrange a consultation whilst still pregnant.£4000 challenge

Now that the wedding is over and done with we're soon going to try and start a little family - but me being me want to do it MSE/OS stylee to a degree... I can't promise you I'll use only washable nappies but I'll try! But what other things should I start thinking about???
I'm going to start crocheting again to make sure I have things like blankies (in white so I just have to add a pretty material border round it in a relevant colour) and little booties etc ready.
What OS things have worked for you and what hasn't? What things did you find that modern ways just beat hands down when it came to life with a babby?
We're not planning on starting right away - but maybe in a couple of months time - I want a full service first with the doctors, even if I have to go private and pay for it!

Hi Mrs Tine,
Congratulations on your recent wedding. These threads should give you lots to think about:

Having a baby OS style???
I'll add your post to the most recent one later to keep all the suggestions together.
