Lakeland sell these microwave ones I think, perhaps it'd be worth asking them for tips or looking on their board?

How long was there between you microwaving and OH eating? They only work for between 3 and 4 hours so could it be that it was left too long?

I've seen tips that say to pour boiling water in the flask, leave for 5 minutes (to heat up the flask walls), empty then fill with whatever you want to keep hot. (think this was in my thermos instructions but wasn't a food flask).

    Would that help any?

It was about 4 and a half hours so maybe it was a little too long?

Vaccum is good, pre heating with hot water is good. Best to try and find one that doesn't leak when inverted, and that's quite tricky.

    Hi NPM,

I have a food flask (bought from Asda for about £4.99) that my son uses for his lunches. The food is put into the flask at 7am and is still hot when he has lunch six hours later. I do as newlywed has suggested and pre-heat the flask before adding the food.

We have some earlier threads that may help:

what should i look for in a flask?

Lunches to go in a Food Flask

I'll add your thread to the first link later to keep the ideas together.

I have one of the microwave Stanley food flasks. TBH I find microwaving the food useless but it does work well by heating first with boiling water and also making sure the food is piping hot before it goes in. The little spoon on the top makes them ideal for children but for an adult I think the amount it holds is too small. The other food flask Stanley do is much more expensive but holds a more adult sized quantity. Just dont make the mistake I did and put it in the DW as it doesn't work quite as well as it did.
  • thanks Pink for finding related threads;)

Have just been to Lakeland online and got a stanley vacuum flask....bit more expensive but will hold more too!
ascot...yes I have found it too small too....only holds 300ml can of soup.

Of course as I had to go on Lakeland I found other bits I needed while I was there:o .....and they call this moneysaving:rotfl:

Did you buy your flask from Mr A? I got two of those you can microwave, and have a spoon on the lid, from there, but tbh I just use as an ordinary flask and they work well. HTH
