I've added this to our main thread on food flasks where you'll find lots of recommendations and advice on buying a food flask.

I'd also recommend the thermos one on amazon, never had any probs between 7am and 1pm, and the spoon that fits neatly in the lid meant i never had to hunt for the lost/forgotten spoon. v useful for jobs where you are on the go, used to try eating mine in the car on motorway during a v hectic job a couple of years ago.
best present i ever got from little bro! The price was £14.99 on amazon last wk but seems to have gone up. I would say its worth the extra money as flasks OH have got from asda and ts were rubbish.
If anyones short of money try ebay for second hand ones. Nothing a bit of sterilising tabs wouldnt sort out! my tea and coffee flask is a bright orange one from the 70s, 2.50 off ebay and works like a dream.0 -
I don't think even the Thermos keep the stuff as hot as I want till lunchtime. Always has cooled off considerably, even though warm and edible.
But then, thats just me. I like hot stuff!
I am lucky though, I bring in my home made soup and heat in mw.
Not everyone has that choice, I know.0 -
I have a Stanley wide flask and the instructions said to heat food in the flask (no lid) in the microwave until hot. It then stays hot for several hours. On the couple of occasions where I have put freshly prepared hot soup into the flask, without microwaving it, it has gone cold by lunchtime. I assumed there was something between the inner and outer layers of the flask that needs 'charging' up with the microwave.
I like the idea of using the flask to keep hotdogs and other foods warm. If I intend to put freshly prepared food in I now put the flask in the microwave filled with water for a couple of minutes, which seems to work to keep the contents hot for longer.I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -

If ever you do need to use the flask rather than the microwave at work, something I've found to work successfully in the past (assuming you don't have a microwave-safe flask as mentioned by troll35) is to scald the flask with boiling water (as you would a teapot when using loose tea - and pour the water away afterwards, obviously), and then microwave the food to an uncomfortably hot temperature before putting it in the flask. If you're lucky it'll be about right when you do want to eat it!Life is mainly froth and bubble

Hi,
I'm looking for something to take soups, stews, etc to work in for lunch. I only work part time so only get a 15 mins break which means if I take anything hot, it needs to be ready otherwise i don't have time to heat it and eat it!
So, if anybody has an recommendations for a food type flask tha actually keeps things hot, I would be very grateful!
Thanks in advance.0 -
I've tried a few different types of food flasks and this is by far the best:

I got mine from Lakeland (£20!) a few years ago and it's still going strong. It comes with a little fold up spoon (great for stews or nice, chunky soups) and keeps food hot from 7am until 1pm, although we always superheat our soups in the microwave before pouring them in!
In fact, at that price, I'm tempted to pick up another one as my OH and I currently share one.MFW 2019 #61: £13,936.60/£20,0000 -
It's funny, because after I posted, it dawned on me to have a look on Amazon and read the reviews - so I did - and ordered that exact one!! Thanks for replying - looking forward to having some proper lunches!0
