Sainsburys Staff feeding frenzy

Ever been in M & S just before closing time, OMG the staff would whip produce away for their discount 'bin' even if you were about to buy it.0

You can't just stop serving customers and help yourself. That is so open to abuse. Surely a shop assistant's job is to serve the customer as they are being paid to provide a service. In my last job if you done something other than your job, in works time you could be disciplined and be done for fraud! It sounds a bit extreme but you will always get people who take the mick! and see it as their right somehow!!Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

It would appear that people treat staff in supermarkets as something on the bottom of their shoes - or they leave their manners at the door. If you are spoken to like this all day is it surprising you now get poor service, it works both ways. I have heard many people comment on how badly staff at Morrisons are treated, if the company does not even care and staff get such low wages for hard work/unsocial hours is it surprising they grab any perk they can ?0

I Have to agree with the OP and honeydog, bad customer service is the norm now. Don't get me wrong I also used to work on the other side of the counter and the pay wasn't that bad! I am always nice to staff as I know what it is like being on the other side but it doesn't seem to matter. Bad service happens, we accept it so it continues. slight difference in america.
I don't understand why the are entitled to "perks" I know in my job there are no perks, no products (bit hard to take a leftover plane home:)) no free dinners, nights out etc, so why because you work in retail are you entitled to a perk.
I think the OP was saying it wasn't the fact that he didn't get the fish, it was the fact he didn't get the customer service.New surname New start!

I was in Tesco's tonight, had a look at the reduced section, then heard someone say 'Escuse me' before pushing me out of the way. Its usual behaviour for rude shoppers, but this was a Tesco employee, taking all the reduced food she could carry.

Unfortunately there are many like this this one who really havent a clue, are untrained, unmotivated, and only want to go into work to come out at the other end with what they can get out of it, and really what they should be considering is doing us all a favour and jacking the job in and leaving it to people who want to work for a living
To work in a place where this characters aim is to p#ss off as many customers as possible, is sad really but a reflection of the chav culture, little Britain eat your heart out, Nelly you dont work behind the fish counter at a Sainsburys in Derbyshire do you, or are you the training officer
Have to agree with this. 'customer service' is a thing of the past it seems, with a lot of shop workers believing they are doing customers a 'favour' by serving them and being polite. While staff are on duty, they should not be either buying items or serving anyone who has not joined the queue.
I have worked in a department store and on the tills at Tesco and I have never had a customer go out of their way to annoy me. I certainly would not have taken pleasure in annoying anyone else deliberately.
Things have obviously changed though as at Tesco we used to have a reduced section out the back for staff only.0 -

but whilst she is wearing the uniform she should surely behave as if she is working? Irrespective of whether she is or not as it gives a bad impression of the store to the customer.0

I think we've missed the OPs point to some extent.
From the way I'm reading it, the fish was being reduced, and the fish counter staff were actively ignoring 'normal' customers in favour of staff, who would appear to have still been on duty.
I have, and my sister does, work for Morrisons, and the blanket policy there is you cannot puchase anything unless not on shift. And the discount card given does not give a further discount on discounted items.
I'd be pretty mad if I'd have been queuing to be served and was ignored in favour of staff. Yes it's not the greatest paid job in the world, who's to say that the OP isn't on less wages. And discounted food isn't their only perk (at least in morrisons), the company negotiates discounts with other companies too.
At the end of the day, how can store staff complain about customers being rude, when they themselves show a display of poor manners? Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -
If I worked there (and I ate fish) I'd be right up in there. Staff always get first dibs. I did on my speaker system. They were on sale, company wanted rid of them. My manager asked me if I wanted them, because if I did he wouldn't sell them to someone. I did of course and got great speakers for £30. :money:
The one good thing about working in retail!0
