    Hello Angel

    Please don't feel you're alone, you're not.

I've suffered with severe depression and anxiety for well over 30 years, it comes and goes, I've had NHS therapy, and been on medication for most of my life, but sometimes, the bad days just arrive with no reason, the way I look at it, when the bad days arrive I tell myself it will pass, tomorrow is another day, the depression does pass, it's just being able to convince yourself it will pass.

Having the personal financial issues we have, doesn't help, but try not to let these companies get to you.

On the OFT website, there are guidelines laid down for credit companies to follow, when I started getting grief from a couple of companies, I made a “Formal Complaint” to them, informing them of my previous health conditions, and this paragraph as per the OFT:
    Physical/psychological harassment
"2.5 Putting pressure on debtors or third parties is considered to be oppressive.
*** failing to negotiate with my appointed DMP representative Pay plan, yet continually issuing me with threatening correspondence stating I have failed to contact *** (false accusation) is creating psychological harassment, in view of the fact I have suffered a nervous breakdown previously, and therefore it’s my belief you are in breach of 2.5 above"
If you feel you have a case for them to answer, send you letter stating “Formal Complaint” in big letters at the top, and send it recorded delivery, this will give you some breathing space from them.
    Good luck
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

    Hi So Sad Angel,
Hope youre feeling better. As others have said- you have up days and down days. I have days when I feel almost euphoric that I no longer have to worry about creditors coming after me with CCJs etc. Other days ( like yesterday ), I felt really anxious, nervy and imagined all kinds of horrible scenarios- getting done for fraud ( not that Ive done this, my imagination runs away with me), getting some really horrible snotty OR, losing the house and ending up on the streets... it goes on.

You seem to be at the start of the bankruptcy "process" and I found this the hardest bit- facing up to the fact that youre so far in the financial s*** that you actually have to declare yourself bankrupt isnt pleasant. I was an emotional wreck at times and on occasion wanted to just walk away and disappear.

I think aswell- the house, rental thing is very stressful, I very nearly went down that route and the stress was immense. Just trying to be my normal self at work was a huge task- I either wanted to cry all the time or to be off trying to sort viewings etc.

Try not to let the stress get to you- easier said than done I know- in a few months the worst will be over. Also- the debt will be gone and you can move on with your life. I wont say "its only money" etc, as we all know first hand on here how badly debt can affect your life, regardless of how it was built up.

Toon_Dave, I think putting your story re the paracetamols on was really brave and Im glad your friends are there for you and I hope you feel better.

Right, I'll stop rambling- Ive got "Poirot"on ( sad, I know) and a big glass of white wine to get stuck into.
Best of luck to both of you.

If it helps even one person seek help and show them that there is others in the same boat then i'm extremely happy about that.

If anyone reading wants to speak regarding stuff like that on PM's then please do..i would like to help if i can.

    Hi Toon Dave,

I too felt like ending it all after my phone call with CCCS. I think it is a natural reaction for perfectly rational and honest people. In my case I thought I'd done a very bad thing and believed I needed to punish myself. I got help. Since then I've had good days and bad like everyone seems to have said here.

My thoughts are withyou and all others on this thread. It's great to know you're not alone.

If you feel overwhelmed by it all do'nt hesitate to get help.

You will have good days & bad days in your DF journey. The other week we were so down that i talked OH into consolidating all of our debts. We saw sense & never went ahead with consolidating. We managed to pull through & I am doing the make £10 extra a day challenge. It is hard work, but some of the incentives on here are brilliant. Got hit with a £600 car repair bill last week, which hurt like hell. Had £150 budgetted for car so had to dip into overdraft to pay the rest. Knocked us back a bit,but before our LBM we wouldn't have had the £150 to put towards it & would have paid on CC. Keep your chin up & good luck.
    Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. PAD(Started 28/12/08) £253.77 £10 a day Feb £110/£280 WEDDING Paid off £1,585.96 Saved Up £925.40

I am alot more clearer with my decisions thanks mostly to everyone on this site and forums. i have another hospital appointment next week with the mental health unit to check on my state of mind...i think the huy will be so impressed at how much clearer i am regarding my future as when i've seen him twice before i always been so down in the dumps.

I will certainly ask for help in the future....the 100 tablets was not the best move i've ever made..

    Hi again,
Hope you enjoyed Wizard of Oz Toon_Dave (Poirot was a bit pants- seen it before about a billion times, they always repeat the same ones)- I think it will help a lot of people what you put in our post. when I first started thinking about "doing the deed" finding this site and just lurking, reading real peoples experiences helped me immensley. My family and friends have been great- worst has been Mum whos convinced Ill be hauled off in chains for a public flogging but even she came round in the end.;)

Aye, i did enjoy the film...dont want to spoil the ending for anyone but Dorothy got home in the end...lol.

my family has been great too. I told my mum that my name would appear in the paper when im declared bankrupt as a small ad so people in the area may read it...she said so what....i'd tell them all to F*CK OFF....my mums 70 too!!!

i do hope it helps even one person to not do what i did...just wish i'd came here few weeks earlier...But i think my Sig says it all....we cant change what we've done.
